DeMarcus Ware got his sixth sack of the season Monday night against Chicago, but it was only his second in seven games, not counting three that he missed because of a quadriceps injury.

Ware had four sacks in the season’s first three weeks.

“He should actually be in the prime of his career, candidly, strength-wise, explosion-wise,” owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on his radio show on KRLD 105.3 FM “The Fan.” “That’s one of the things we got to, I think, count on, is him having more impact in the game as he moves away from his injury.”

Ware said last week that he was doing moves in practice that he hadn’t been able to since recovering from the injury.

Jones said it’s possible Ware is still feeling some effect from the injury, but that the Cowboys have to have production from him and Jason Hatcher, their most accomplished defensive linemen.

“He’s feeling better, and we should be able to count on better production from him,” Jones said. “We have to count on that, as well as, from Hatcher. We didn’t have as much noted production from Hatcher last night. And when we don’t get that, along with what we’re trying to do with other parts of our down linemen, then our pass rush is going to suffer.”
