Cowboys owner Jerry Jones again expressed confidence in defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin as the man to clean up his own area.
“To be doing what we’re doing and to fix what we’re doing, there’s nobody I’d rather have than him and Rod Marinelli,” Jones said Tuesday in his weekly appearance on KRLD 105.3 FM “The Fan.” “And where we are today, to get this fixed over the next – if you would, week or four or five days – ain’t nobody I’d rather have to get it fixed. First of all, he knows what’s happening to us better than anyone. And if there are adjustments to be made, he’s the right man for the job.
The Cowboys gave up 490 yards and 33 first downs to the Bears on Monday night. They are allowing 426.8 yards per game under Kiffin and have allowed 40 or more points three times. Twice, they have gone a game without forcing a punt.
“He takes it personally,” Jones said. “It’s hard on him. It’s very hard on him.”
