The Cowboys had no takeaways against the Chiefs, and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin believes it’s partly because the word is out on the Cowboys.

“After people watched that first game, they’re going to impress on their offensive football team to hold it high and tight, take care of the ball, get rid of it quick if you have to as a quarterback,” he said. “You’re going to coach your teams up to do that, especially if you start off as we did last week.”

The Cowboys had one golden chance in the third quarter, when Bruce Carter got his hands on a pass that could have resulted in a pick-six. But it was a drop. Otherwise, the ball hardly moved from the Chiefs’ hands.

“I don’t think it had anything to do with effort or the hustle or something,” Kiffini said of his players. “I just think, you know, you hope you get them and some days you don’t. But you sure don’t coach it any different. I don’t think the players played any different. They went after the ball, stuff like that, I’m sure.”
