The NBA, NHL and major league baseball hold their players to a higher standard as well, yet somehow they aren't getting sued by their players over these disciplinary issues.
That's because they allow the inmates to run the asylum. The NBA, NHL and major league baseball hold their players to a higher standard as well, yet somehow they aren't getting sued by their players over these disciplinary issues.
Exactly. If you notice, the article quotes Lockhart more than once that they are not trying to make an example of Zeke. My BS alarm was screamingThey can act as 'noble' as they want, nobody's buying what they're selling. Of course they would never admit that this railroad job is in direct response to their mishandling of every other case. They never admit ever being wrong. Look no further than this expedited appeal. They were admonished about as strongly as possible, but do they realize or admit their mistake? Of course not, "we're the NFL!"
The fact is that they're in over their heads here. They're trying to do something - go above the law - that they're not authorized to do and not capable of doing. And it's clear to everyone other than them.
...yet they keep making mistakes. The commish's jumping to the defense of Michael Bennett after he made false accusations about the LVPD is just one example.
Yes you can find video on the internet, however there is no video that shows a gun to Bennett's head or the police saying the words that he attributed to them saying. The accusations are most certainly false. The accusations weren't false. You can find video all over the internet.

Now your story is changing, you said the internet video of this incident proves Bennett's allegation. Now you are conceding that's not exactly the case but bad cops in your opinion exist so they must be bad here too... is that your logic? There have been several claims of police using excessive force on black folks but those cases are largely found to be unsubstantiated. So rather then being so general in your statements on this, please be specific so we can speak to specific facts. What other instances of "bad cops " are you talking about? The videos also don't show the entirety of the confrontation.
Given a lot of other instances of bad cops doing bad stuff, I'm more inclined to believe a citizen over the police these days. It's a shame that's what it's become, but it is what it is. We need more good cops to step up and hold the bad apples accountable.
I suspect that if this was Zeke instead of Bennett, the NFL would have acted in a very different way to this case. His fear of police may be ligament yet unwarranted at the same time. He was visibly shaken over the incident but yeah, his representation of the police's behavior is something that should be investigated and if found to be premeditated and false then IMO, it would fit in the category of conduct detrimental to the league. But the commish cut that possibility off by refusing to investigate, even after the LVPD welcomed that course of action.
Maybe their (the League administrators') hearts are in the right place? It's where their head is. That's the problem. I present...

The NBA doesn't care what their players do. Hockey players seem to rarely get in trouble. Major league baseball players play so much, they have little time to get in trouble. And a high percentage of them are from Latin America, so who knows what they're doing during the offseason. The NBA, NHL and major league baseball hold their players to a higher standard as well, yet somehow they aren't getting sued by their players over these disciplinary issues.

C.R.E.A.M.Joe Lockhart is a real hoot.

Honestly, nobody knows the answer. The NFL policies are messed up. But so is the players union, the court system, and in this case, the police investigative units in Columbus, Ohio.
I'm not sure what the real answer is.
Google Slava Voynov (from my Kings; damnit), Evander Kane, and Dany Heatley. All NHL players. Just a few examples. The NBA doesn't care what their players do. Detrimental to the league it isn't. Now an exaggeration if it's not true to the extent he said but detrimental to the league expletive noHas this been proven? If it has Bennett should be suspended, seriously it is conduct detrimental to the league.
