Maybe it was me just reminiscing about the Super Bowl years, but I always wanted to see Norv come back for another coaching run. I know he really hasn't had a lot of success since then so I guess it's my rose colored Dallas Cowboys glasses leading me astray...lol. He SEEMED great back then...

in my personal opinion, i think he was, but in order to run his scheme you had to have players with a certain trait. Dallas just happened to land on a really good QB.

Why?

We have an offensive minded head coach and an OC that turned down head coaching interviews to stay here. That OC has done wonders with our QB.

I believe you CAN have too many cooks in the kitchen.
Good point. I like good minds trying to work together for the common good, but I get the too many chefs mentality.
I can follow this.

If Linehan gets a head coaching gig within the next couple years ( especially after next year ), I can easily see Jason bringing in Norv as his next OC. If Dak and the offense repeat 2016 output, you can bet Linehan will be under consideration for a few openings.

Report: Cowboys extend contracts of OC Scott Linehan, DC Rod Marinelli

The Cowboys have been busy securing the future of members of the organization on Tuesday. After giving Jason Witten an additional four years, they have now extended the man in charge of scheming to get him and his teammates open. Scott Linehan has been given a two-year extension as offensive coordinator, per the Star-Telegram.

Linehan isn’t the only coordinator now signed past 2017, as defensive guru Rod Marinelli also had his contract extended.

The Dallas Cowboys have signed offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli to contract extensions, per sources.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Linehan had two years added to his deal and is signed through 2019, according to a source

That would be interesting if they did hire him.
He could be a advisor.

Wouldn't hurt having him sit in on "setting the game plan meetings" as a consultant. If anyone could help lay down a game plan that would win in the playoffs, it's Norv Turner. Of course he's at the mercy of player execution, just like Linehan. That's something those 90s players did really well. Execute.

Norv did have the knowledge to plan his schemes to best fit his player talent. Of course it didn't hurt his reputation to have the Great Wall and the triplets combined with Johnson.

Why in the world would we want Norv Turner back in Dallas? Our problems aren't on offense, anyway, and haven't been since before Tony Romo.

The dude's retired. Let him stay that way.

Yes sir. Johnson was a huge reason those players were so focused, and able to execute the way they did.

Aikman seems to credit Turner more than anyone else for his success and the success of the offense. So much so that it was Turner that Troy turned to, to induct him into the HOF
