The Cowboys learned this week they lost Anthony Spencer for the year. But from experience, quarterback Tony Romo figures the team knows how to handle news like that.
“You almost understand that injury’s a part of the game now,” he said Wednesday, talking to reporters at Valley Ranch. “You’re not going to go through a full season without them. There’s a way to mentally prepare yourself to stay ready to win the football games with or without certain individuals, and you have to be able to do that.
“And if you can’t, you’re behind the 8-ball from other teams.”
Romo remembers 2010, when he missed more than half the year with a broken collarbone.
“When I was out, the games – they keep playing, and the team keeps going on,” he said. “You have to understand there are too many times, and too many teams that have had a guy get hurt and have gone on to do some successful things, to think that you can’t. If you talk to Anthony, he’d be the first to tell you he’d want everybody to keep doing what they’re doing, keep getting better and go and win these football games.”
