Dak Prescott has been the story of the Dallas Cowboys season so far, but he consistently deflects praise to those around him. And near the top, if not at the top, of his list is offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

“I couldn’t ask for a better offensive coordinator, play-caller to start my career off in this league,” Prescott said. “He’s just been phenomenal in the play-calling, allowing me to feel comfortable in everything. The drop-back passes, the play-action, he’s just allowing me to play my game. A lot of credit to the way he coaches me.”

Linehan’s reaction to the rookie quarterback’s praise?

“I paid him money to make him say that,” Linehan said, chuckling. “He’s always going to be a person that sheds the light. That’s what leaders do. Tony [Romo] does it. All of the guys who have those qualities as leaders are always keeping guys pumped up and positive about what they say.”

Linehan is actually a quality coordinator. He just has to have the proper QB so he can implement his gameplan. 2014 was the year when Romo really stepped it up and that's when Linehan started taking over the offense. I'm not a fan of Garrett's 'field generalship', but the guy knows how to get hired coordinators around him.

So I wonder what effect Romo has been. Romo has the green light to change plays at the line and does so a lot of the time. Makes you wonder?

Dak runs the plays he's given and executes them. Gameplan works.

Romo changes the plays and ad libs - Gameplan doesn't work.

However spectacular Romo's gunslinging changed at LOS plays look, maybe the calls are wrong.

Always thought a well thought out prepared game plan is better than ad lib stuff.

Last year it was Garretts fault this offense was bad. Now that it looks solid its Linehan's credit lol. Easily the most disrespected coach in the league.
The problem with Garrett regarding this offense (imo) is the gutless calls. We should have gone for that 4th and 1 last week. There are numerous examples of that. Last year against the Panthers it was like 4th and 3 on the 20 yard line, and we were down by 20 points. So, here comes the FG unit. He got booed at his own stadium.

IMO, he was ALWAYS a garbage OC. I will never forgive him for the 2011 GB game.

Yeah, was gonna say. I'm not sure who gets credit for drafting Dak...that's a tough one for some folks to swallow

I've liked the offense this year. They started off slow but now that they trust the rookies, they're loosening things up. Credit to Garrett and Linehan, for sure. They have every excuse in the book to fail but things are running smoothly.

My one gripe is they take Zeke out when he starts to get going. I understand giving him a break, but it always seems to happen when he's just getting going. But I can't complain with the resutls

Since when doesn't the game plan work with Romo?

And no, we are not counting last season when he had two complete games under his belt.

We can sit here and call it gutless but on the other hand they won the game. Against better competition maybe they would've lost but I get the conservative play with a rookie QB and RB.

Linehan's playcalling actually has been much better this year.

I've always given this staff crap, and now I've got to give them credit.

Ditto, I've pretty much hated our offensive scheme since Ginger came aboard, guess people can change and I give them credit for that.

I think its the other way around. Linehan couldn't win with 3-4 different backups over the last couple of years. Now Dak comes and Linehan is the reason. I don't think so.
