Tight end Jason Witten was glad to see the Cowboys offense move, even with only four catches from Dez Bryant, against the Giants.
But he does not expect that to be necessary often.
“I’m sure teams are going to try and take him out of the game, but we’ll find ways, just like we did last year and have done for the last four years, of getting the ball in his hands,” Witten said.
Bryant got eight targets in the season opener from quarterback Tony Romo. But he was rarely targeted deep, as the Giants chose to keep a safety on him to help the cornerback.
“At some point, teams are going to do other things,” Witten said. “I mean, he plays physical, he’s going to be aggressive. I’m sure they’re going to find different ways to get the ball in his hands. That’s when he’s most dangerous. Just like so many other good receivers in the league, you have to work at it. He’ll get a lot of opportunities. Those’ll come.”
