I'd keep Ferguson, always need rotation guys.

He's not worth the 6th to 7th we are going to get for him.

Totally agree.

This would be stupid IMO.

You know this is getting sad. Im actually getting to the point where I expect to hear the the FWST is closing shop. This is the second uncorroborated rumor that the Fort Worth Enquirer has put out in one day.

Its just sad.

The morning news has it too.

Miami is also involved with trade talks with detroit for shaun rodgers. So maybe one will cancel the other out.

on the other hand, the washington post blog has it that rogers has been traded for stroud straight up.

Its fun reading all these blogs.

Here are the Fins picks. (* = first pick in that round)

1st. #1*

2nd. #32*

2nd. #57

3rd. #64*

4th. #96*

5th. none

6th. #158*

7th. #190*

Here are our late picks.
5th. #155
6th. #186
7th. #217

Now if we can get their 4th.#96 for Fergy and say our 6th i'd do it. That would give us 5 picks in the top 100.

I guess we were looking at Red Bryant for a reason then at the combine. Ratliff is not an ideal 3-4 DT but could be a very good DE in a 3-4

Breathe easy ... this post isn't about Marion "The Barbarian" Barber.

Sources inform Calvin "Lucky" Watkins that the Cowboys and Dolphins are discussing a trade that would send NT Jason Ferguson, a Bill Parcells favorite for years, to Miami. Not clear yet what the Cowboys might get in return.

Ferguson, who suffered a season-ending injury in the opener, is expendable because of the emergence of Jay Ratliff. Tank Johnson, who has stayed out of trouble since signing with Dallas, gives the Cowboys quality depth at nose tackle.

More to come as this story develops.

If he goes to Miami it will prove the feelings around tne NFL that Parcell's ego fuels a lot of the "his guys" mistique. His guys include coaches and players.
And it's usually weathered veterans with negligible skills or injury history.
Let him go to Parcells.
Let Parcells' ego pay dearly for this marginal player who can stop but lacks the aggressiveness and athleticism of a Ratliff.
Let Parcells pay dearly ha-ha-ha (throwing my head back like a mad scientist) ha-ha-ha!
His ego might could even fetch a 3rd rounder for us.

But you can't go out and buy a good NT for 2.4 million. I think people forget how good Fergy is.

I'll be really, really steamed if this goes down.

I don't disagree......I'm only OK with this move if the cap room is utilized to bring in a player that could make a greater impact, likely at another position.....my hope would be WR.

I'd trade him for next years 6th, which could be raised to a 3rd conditionally. Or something along those lines.

Thats the interesting thing. He is still a very good player. its not like he isnt worth the money he is making. On top of that, he is loved in the locker room. he was the leader for two years in the locker room with those guys. Canty, spears, ratliff they all rave about him.

Sometimes even aging players are worth keeping for the intangibles alone, that is the reason I like the thomas signing.

If we were going to simply release him I would be suprised. There is no doubt he can help this team.

the things we dont know however are, how much will he bring back and what do they have planned in the draft to replace him.

Either way, he is a player that is loved in the locker room who is also very talented and those are hard to replace.
