JJones is basically just trying to save cap space and still get something back. If Fergie isn't traded, he will be a June 1 cut to save 2 million or so cap dollars.

I liked him, but we did just fine without him.

Wish we could get a 4th for him...

i dont want to get rid of him i think he clogs up the middle more than rat...we need a big guy up there to shield thomas...doesnt make sense unless we go after a big NT somewhere else...wanted to move rat to LE anyway...dont think its going to happen now

If its not a 4th or 5th - Keep him for depth. DT rotation is big and injuries happen

This kinda sucks, IMO. It would create better depth and keep guys fresh and as you saw in the SB, a fresh pass rush can do wonders. A not so fresh pass rush(that NE TD drive) doesnt go much.

We have Tank and could use the cap savings, around $3M.

Tank isn't your prototype NT... I'd like to keep Fergy because (quality)depth is always good to have...

I'd bet a 6th or 7th for him.

If that is all we are getting, why bother?

I would take a 5th, nothing lower. Nobody drafted in the 6th or 7th is going to be better than Fergy. I would rather us just keep him and use him in the rotation.

If we're gonna trade him, witch I have mixed feelings about, how about for Miami RB Lorenzo Booker?.

First of all it would be because we aren't going to keep 3 NTs. Trading him frees up cap space. He's the oldest of the 3 NTs we have. He's coming off a season ending injury. One of the guys we have was inked last year to a new deal. So he's not going anywhere. The other guy we have is a bargain, so he's safe. That leaves Fergy as the odd man out of the equation.

Why only a 5th or 6th for him? His age, coming off an injury, and his price tag.

I do think he makes History in one way. He becomes Parcells most coveted player ever because he will have him on 3 different NFL teams, the Jets, Cowboys, and Dolphins. Truly a Parcells guy. Plus we know the 3 Defensive Coaches, Head Coach, and QB Coach all know him as well. It's a good fit for them.

Good fit for the Fins --good trade for us.We regain some cap space and get
younger and have one more ticket in the draft to play with
