I thought the official release date was 5-8-09, which was Friday. Even if they are trying to include Thursday that is still a lot of money over 4 days. I don't know the definition of blockbuster, but the suits have to be happy with $112 million.

Shrek 2 opened on a Wednesday and did $120 million through that Sunday, and I'd certainly qualify it as a "blockbuster."

Iron Man opened on a Thursday and it did $102 million through Sunday.

I think it's pretty safe to say that the Star Trek movie is a "blockbuster."

72.5 million over the weekend is very good. BUT then with all the publicity and the buzz its not surprising. WHAT will really tell the tale is NEXT weekend. Wolverine really tanked in its second weekend.

8 of it was mine, not counting the nachos/coke. It was outstanding. I don't think I have ever seen the phaser torpedo scenes as well done as the ones in this movie. And the new Kirk, be it makeup, the director or natural appearance, he pulled of a young Kirk better than the original!! Really, no major or even middle problem with this one. Already hoping for a sequel. (what, this isn't Fandango reviews...)

Haha...I had an ex-friend that worked in a movie theater in college. He used to rob that place blind. Sicko used to wash out used cups and resell them. Pocketed hundreds every weekend. Dirtball.

not hard to do. i know someone who sells the ticket you get for a free medium pop corn and med pop (after 10 visits) for 5$ a pop. We dont do that used cups thing forget that

easy man, only went to prove my point that they counted earlier to get the numbers. Im sorry movies arent that good and when they talk about including may into the summer movies it starts one wondering.

hate to break the news to you since maybe you love the new movies, a lot of people dont and i was just asking. it seems more and more movies need to open on a thursday to get that weekend numbers up. maybe i am looking at it wrong, but thats what it seems to me, fudging numbers because things have gotten embarrasing.

i also have to say when you do a live dog movie to get movie goers to come to the movies, you've sunken to a whole new low.
