This coaching staff really missed the boat here!

How does Pittsburgh have a Byron Leftwich, who was a high
draft pick with game experience, while we have the walking
"zombie", Brad Johnson?

Talk about a lack of foresight? Even the Giants have a David Carr
to back up Eli.
Why are we dealing with Brooks Bollinger-type players, yet these
other teams are better prepared?:lmao2:

Because leftwhich and Ben were rivals in college but still best friends, they play similiarly, and they made a decision to go play backup of a friend.

So, what about Carr, & the dozen other capable backups not name BJ?

Because our vainglorious GM was too busy doing radio shows and pizza commercials.

We were comfortable with Johnson, Garrett and him are great friends, you know?

Our braintrust sucks.

Carr is capable? I would have taken Testeverde over him I'm afraid.

Heck, Drew Bledsoe might as well step up.

leftwich tonight totally destroys bobs argument ont the ticket today. He basically said that no back up in the league could do much better than brad johnson, thats why you have starters and backups.

Wow... Pittsburgh is making the Deadskins looks silly.

Yeah, and look at their backup QB.

He's playing pretty well too.

When Leftwich was cut, no team went chasing after him.

It took several weeks before the Stealers finally signed him.

The point being he wasn't highly sought after at all.

One game doesn't make a career.

One game doesn't make a career but, he sure looks better than Bad Johnson

Only reason he's signed anywhere is because Charlie Batch is on IR. He might have gone to the Lions instead of Culpepper had the Steelers not grabbed him.

Leftwich or Simms would have been great cover for the last 3 weeks. There's no way around that.

You be saying the same thing when Daunte and Calvin Johnson looks like the Daunte to Moss duo.... I will laugh and everyone will say how hindsight is 20/20 or how that fat boy roll on QB WAS washed up..

We didn't need a good backup quarterback. We really needed a wide receiver.

Thankfully three draft picks, and 45 million later our Savior is here.

if I had a choice between a backup QB and Roy Williams, I'll take Roy Williams 3 weeks ago in hindsight 10 out of 10 times.

The better question is why does Pittsburgh have Byron Leftwich.

I constantly said all offseason that this guy should be starting somewhere and he isn't even as close to as bad as people portrayed.

Vikings and Bears should've been all over that along with about 5 other teams.

Leftwich is a starter and he'll be starting for someone else eventually.
