And, as we see today with the Seahawks, you have that 4-5 year window if you draft your future QB. Where you can sign free agents cause your paying peanuts for your signal caller. In our case 4 years, and we are coming to year 3 !
And they still have no money to use. What happens when we have to sign Dak to a huge long term deal ???
Now are the years we should be adding to the depth of our team thru FA.
Romos last dead money comes off the books this year, then we get 1 year before we have to pay Dak.
The future is not very bright ...

The more Stephen talks, the more hopeless the Cowboys' situation appears.

His recent baloney about FA is the phoniest utterance yet to be made public.

It's really a doggone shame that the entire Jones family can't be impeached.

Clearly it is Will and the scouting departments job to do the player evaluations and make recommendations, though it is ultimately Jerry or Stephen's choice to sign them. Scouting and evaluating existing NFL talent is not something this organization does well. It requires an active and engaged GM. Thats how the Giants swing a trade and get Alec Ogletree for peanuts.

Stephen wasn't aware that they haven't made trades in the last couple of seasons

You have to love the sheer arrogance of it and the complete insult of the intelligence level of the fan base.

Here you have a completely incompetent boob whose failed heading the personnel and cap here for two decades and he's acting mystified by failing in free agency last year. As if that's not the norm. And they will get to the bottom of what possibly could be wrong. As if it's not him and his daddy. The same wrong it's always been. Pretending it'll be corrected, except we know he himself is the problem and he's not going anywhere. so it will not be corrected. But he thinks so little of the fans that he actually believes they will buy that.

A team with no talent evaluators at the top and no cap room per usual had a bad FA class? What possibly could have gone wrong? It's a mystery that might never be solved.
Sadly the majority of fans do buy it...hince the reason they are #1 in revenue.

Show us don't tell us.

It always amazes me that fans treat these kinds of things as if the person being quoted has called in a reporter for the specific purpose of saying what was quoted. Do fans really not get that the media asking questions goes with the territory?

get a general manager. I don't know why this is so hard. The media should be calling the Jones's out but they are probably getting paid whether indirectly or directly, so they won't say anything. Maybe in 10 to 20 years Stephen or someone will learn to be a serviceable GM.

Challenge the Joneses and you risk losing access to the team. This is why they completely ignore the last 20 years like they never happened.
