Not sure why it would be special treatment to put him on IR.

Cut them, let them pass through waivers, you can negotiate an injury settlement, that saves money.

Why on earth would any team devote three full seasons of commitment on a player when the average shelf li

It is one thing to try to develop talent.

All this would do is develop hope.

I have seen 'first rounders" get less patience.

It is truly mind blowing.

I already said to cut him and negotiate an injury settlement. But putting him on IR isn't a big deal unless he goes to reserve IR.

Well, everyone with the slightest clue knows that Matt Johnson was an UDFA talent. He wasn't even a priority free agent. So I can imagine the league got a good laugh at the Cowboys wasting a 4th round pick on him. Probably nearly passed out when the Cowboys said they had to sweat it out waiting to see if he would "fall" to them with that pick.

So I can imagine Captain Ego and the Nepotistic Kid are pretty intent on trying to prove they were right with this player.

And there you have the patience.

The Jones twins. Making bad situations worse since 1994.

Cutting him and floating through waivers and then getting an injury settlement is how you get rid of an injury risk.

Putting that same player on IR for the third season in a row is enabling.

Not surprising. It seems to be what we do.

The braintrust is so gullible and the players have figured it out.

It's not cut and dry. Injury settlements can be as complicated as they wish. I realize some don't like the player but apparently the club does. So they will do what they feel is in both parties best interest esp their own. I'd just cut the guy with a simple injury settlement but I'm not the GM.

Stephen Jones told @RainerSabinDMN "it's conceivable" that the Cowboys could place Matt Johnson on IR for the third straight year

LOL! What? When is the last time this guy played? Middle school?

If they want to put Johnson on IR, I don't see the big deal. It's not our money nor does in any way does it limit the Cowboys roster.

Its a sign of not knowing when to cut your losses. Does anybody really believe this guy is going to play a full season any where? After a while guys who get paid for nothing but sitting a whirl pool are bad for morale.

Or....it's possible the exact opposite it true. Everyone knows Jerry is loyal to a fault and this just proves what he will do for someone who has had their struggles. Couldn't that impress the players?

You actually have to do something or else it looks like preferential treatment. This guy hasn't played a meaningful snap since 2011.

Ding, ding, ding!!! You win the free toaster! In terms of money, or contract, Johnson makes chump change. Nor having him on the roster is impeding any one of the other safeties vying for a roster spot for this team.

Putting Johnson on Jr again only undermines the spirit of coaching. Coaches across the board need to see.players play and hold them accountable if the don't. The ultimate accountability price is losing your roster spot. How could Garrett Jones or any defensive coach honestly look Mo in the eye if the don't resign him but give Johnson another look? Many complain about Mo's lack of pre-season play, but Johnson has never played, but deserves another year of opportunity over those that have player through injury or.played injured. PLEASE! Cut this guy or lose a player (s)/lockerroom because he's not buying the double standard that applies.to Johnson. Cut ties!

Somewhere Bruce Carter is SHH (shaking his head), wondering why Jerry Jones says he'll never live up to his expectation , but Johnson deserves another chance to live up to his?!

Just watch us cut him next year and he ends up being a starter on another team and never gets injured again. LOL
