The fact they are even talking about placing him on IR means they are considering it.

What braintrust does that with an oft injured player that has never done anything?

Answer, nobody. Except us apparently. It is embarrassing.

Some teams have less issue admitting they're wrong - say the Seahawks - while others waste years refusing to admit mistakes.

It would. I don't think it happens. It does sound, though, like there might have been some progress in diagnosing his issue last week. If that happens, and it's real progress, I can see them considering an additional allowance of time. Still think it would be unlikely, though.

If nothing else, I'd like to see them have figured it out and see the guy in that last garbage preseason game, though.

Generally I don't care for the reasons that they do stuff, but if they keep Matt Johnson and the issue was targeted, they're going to need to release a statement or answer questions about that because I want to know why.

Lmao. This is so loaded. Check on the Seahawks of every year except the last two and tell me how that works out for you.

Is it as 'loaded' as our ever-embarrassing owner?

The sad truth the homers want to hide their eyes from is the fact that this team can never let go and move on while other, better teams do all the time.

Matt Johnson gets several years based on zero track record. Just like proven losers have for years in Dallas.

And the same homers defend it, just like they did for Cory Proctor, David Arkin, and all the other guys everyone knew weren't worth the time.

Guys don't leave Dallas and prosper elsewhere. They disappear. We're not loaded with talent, were now the bottom-feeders picking up other team's scraps.

That's a good idea, too. Even if he gets snapped up, it's not the end of the world, and you'd think he's probably in a situation where he feels indebted to the team and the organization and would work with them to get even another shot at the roster.

I am intrigued with this player. It's like the Beriault guy a few years back where you just suspect he could probably play if his body would just hold up. Stinks to lose decent prospects (include Holloman on that list) to bodily injury issues at what have been obvious positions of need for us on our absolute weak side of the ball.

Not saying it would turn out the same, but once upon a time Dallas gave up on a receiver named Jimmy Smith, who turned out to be pretty good when he got over his injury problems.

IMO, if Dallas feels he has talent worth keeping, then keep him even if it means putting him on iR for another year. It might never pan out, but I'm just of the belief that you don't give up on talent until your hand is forced.

Some teams have less issue admitting they're wrong - say the Seahawks - while others waste years refusing to admit mistakes.

Jesse Williams (born November 2, 1990), nicknamed "Tha Monstar",[1] is an Australiandefensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Williams played college football for the University of Alabama, where he was a starter on the defensive line for the 2011 and 2012 national championship teams. The Seattle Seahawks chose him in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Seattle Seahawks[edit]

Williams signed his initial rookie contract with Seattle on May 10, 2013.[26] On August 26, 2013, Williams was placed on the injured reserve list for the 2013 season as the result of a knee injury that sidelined him for the entirety of his rookie season with Seattle.[27] Through week 16 of the regular season, Williams rehabbed his knee in his native Australia where he utilized Orthokine to help with joint pain associated with his knee injury.[28] Although he did not play a down during the season due to his injury, Williams became the first native Australian to win a Super Bowl ring after Seattle's victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.[29]

On August 1, 2014, Williams was placed on the injured reserve list for the 2014 season as the result of a second knee injury.[30][31]

Anthony McCoy (born December 28, 1987) is an American footballtight end for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Seahawks in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. McCoy played college football at Southern California.

Professional career[edit]
McCoy was considered one of the top tight end prospects for the 2010 NFL Draft.[2] He ended up being selected in the sixth round, 185th overall, by the Seattle Seahawks. The move reunited him with his college head coach from USC Pete Carroll who in 2010 took the head coaching job with Seattle.

On May 21, 2013, McCoy suffered a torn Achilles' during organized team activities, and underwent surgery three days later. His recovery was expected to take about six to nine months, prompting the Seahawks to waive him injured on May 28. After clearing waivers the following day, McCoy reverted to the reserve/injured list.[3]

On July 29, 2014 McCoy suffered another torn Achilles' during training camp, his second in just over a year. The Seahawks have currently not placed him on IR or on waivers yet.[4]

Here the Seahawks picked up someone else's IR guy and put him on their IR this year.

Taylor Price
(born October 8, 1987) is an American football wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college footballat Ohio University.

He has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

New England Patriots[edit]
Price was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round (90th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. On May 25, 2010, he signed a four-year deal with the Patriots. Price was inactive for the first 15 games of his rookie regular season before making his NFL debut in the Week 17 finale against the Miami Dolphins. He caught three passes for 41 yards in the game. Price was waived by the Patriots on December 3, 2011, after playing in only three games in 2011.

Jacksonville Jaguars[edit]
The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Price off waivers on December 5, 2011.[3] The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had also put in a claim for Price, but he went to the Jaguars because they were higher on the waiver order.[4]

Price was waived/injured on August 12, 2012, and subsequently reverted to injured reserve on August 18.

Price was once again waived/injured on August 5, 2013 and placed on injured reserve on August 7

Seattle Seahawks[edit]
Seattle signed Price to a one year contract on March 12, 2014.[5] He was placed on injured reserve on 7/29/2014.[6]

Putting Johnson on Jr again only undermines the spirit of coaching. Coaches across the board need to see.players play and hold them accountable if the don't. The ultimate accountability price is losing your roster spot. How could Garrett Jones or any defensive coach honestly look Mo in the eye if the don't resign him but give Johnson another look? Many complain about Mo's lack of pre-season play, but Johnson has never played, but deserves another year of opportunity over those that have player through injury or.played injured. PLEASE! Cut this guy or lose a player (s)/lockerroom because he's not buying the double standard that applies.to Johnson. Cut ties!

50 gets it. Anybody who gets cut in his position group is going to feel some type of way when this guy is guaranteed work year after year without doing ANYTHING. This could potentially lead to locker room problems.

They can put guys on IR at any point. Ben Malena, Sean Lee and Korey Lindsey have all been put on IR (so far) this season.

I think Malena and Lindsey may have been subject to waivers before putting them on IR, but you are correct. I read a little more and I think i was confused because a player has to make the 53 man roster to be placed on IR with designation to return. So Lawrence will take a final roster spot for a day if they choose to put him on the IR, but there is no issue with Johnson.

The Matt Johnson drama of the week aside, I wonder if any other Vice-President of Player Personal has their own media sessions?

It's seems like it is about not busting on another 4th round reach. It's laughable how this franchise is mismanaged.

They can cling to him from now until the end of time, he's never going to be a good player. He doesn't belong in the league.

Hard to say what to do when I haven't seen Johnson play, or practice. From my POV it's easy just to say cut him. But if they still have hope for him then he must be showing something when he is in there playing. Either way, I want to see some resources put into the FS position. Our hopes shouldn't be pinned to Matt Johnson. I want a true coverage FS. The kind of safety QB's have to look out for.
