Stephen Jones mentioned fixing LB and secondary positions!

Hi
There is still a ton of talent in this year's draft, yes NIL forces players to stay longer, but eventually they run out of time. This just means more experienced players will come out and be more NFL ready.
i just saw Dane’s 2nd mock and literally no one falls. I was hoping we might be able to trade back from 12. I do think Simpson is going to be a top 10 pick eventually because all those quarterback needy teams. I think there will be a Jackson Dart type prospect (Carson Beck) that will also get steam during the draft evaluation process.

My hope is that they hire a DC who runs a pressure type of scheme over one that plays that shell type that Fangio runs. A good coordinator can simulate pressure without having that elite edge rusher. Of coarse, more bodies you send, opens you up in the back-end. Now if you bring in a similar scheme like we just ran, you better have elite edge rushers as those scheme rarely send pressure.

Who is your top choice for DC?
I don't really buy into the whole "you can scheme pressure" thing...that is what Flus sold us.

I dont know enough about half if the guys but ideally I would like a proven commodity like Schwartz or Flores.

I know the Vikings don't have any elite edge rushers, but they scheme a ton of pressure. I saw the Jets under Rex Ryan do the same when I was living in NY. Ideal world, you would love to generate pressure with just your front 4, but good coordinators know how to manufacture pressure.

I had enough with these bend don't break schemes keeping everything in front of you. I want an attacking defense. Flores is my top choice, but really intrigued by Leonhard. He comes from that Buddy Ryan coaching tree, where Wade Phillips mentored Vance and he played under Rex Ryan. People forget Wade Phillips was the DC under Buddy in Philly. Last time the Cowboys had a good defense was under Wade, think Leonard would put together a similar unit.

It is very early where the season isn't even over. We see guys falls every year as teams aren't good at drafting. Hell, almost all of us thought that Bowling Green Edge was going to be a top 15 pick, he was drafted in rd 2.

Beck lights up Indiana Monday everything will change.

The Vikings have a pro bowl caliber player in Greenard and an up and coming top 15 pick in Turner.

I wouldn't consider either as elite pass rushers, they are a solid tantum that continue to get better. Flores sends pressure 50% of the time, which helps their whole front get sacks.

That's fine...but they literally have a pro bowler and a guy who looks like he is on the way to being that type of player.

Would you agree there Edge room is lightyears ahead of what we have?

No doubt they are ahead of us, as we just have Ez in the pipeline, Kneeland was suppose to be that other guy. Before his death, he was looking more like a bust selection.

And the front 4 will get next to no pressure still and it wont matter. Traded Micah now deal with it

I mean, you can blitz now and then, but the majority of the time you simply need some dominant players up front. If you blitz a lot you will get beat a lot. It's been tried, doesn't work.

Greenard is elite. He was rated the 2nd best OLB in the NFL, behind Watt. The other OLB is also very close to elite, van Ginkel. Turner was very good in his 2nd season. They have one of the best DLines in the NFL w/ Allen/Hargraves/Phillips.

Flores blitzed 20.9% of the time in 2025.

I saw there blitz rate was 48 percent

Revei spent half a season on the sidelines do not want a medical pick with either 12 or 20 . Forget McCoy . At 12 Sonny Styles to break up the furniture and plays at LB followed by the Clemson CB Aveion Terrell to start opposite Revel move Bland to the slot where he belongs .

Re sign bring back both James Houston and Clowney plus sign a young veteran with upside at Edge Boye Maffe the Seahawk . Of course EZ is still under rookie contract hopefully he improves. Stephen is right LB & CB are desperate for starters .

Terrell might be a slot only corner and his frame is very slight

He is a fiesty player. Same as Ponds from Indiana.

Love them both but think you are right probably nickel guys more like Lewis.

Not 1st rounders IMO.

All out corners struggled and he missed a whole yr of football.
Yea...Revel gets a pass coming off a big injury and not having a pre season.

As a big time prospect pre injury I would imagine the Cowboys see him as a big part of our future in the CB room.
