LOL.

Chicago? They had Richard Dent, who is a Hall of Fame DE with over 135 sacks in his career. In their Super Bowl year, Dent had 17 sacks. The Bears defensive front had great DTs and great DEs.

Cowboys? They had Charles Haley as a pass rushing end for their SB teams. Again, they had quality at DT and DE.

So you've yet to give me an example of a team with middling to mediocre to possibly below average DE talent that had a great pass rush because of strong DT play.
Don't forget the steelers. In their 2008 Super Bowl season, Harrison and Woodley brought the heat with 16 and 11.5 sacks from the edge ( kinda like Von Miller and ware).

Giants 2011 Super Bowl season, JPP led the way w 16.5 sacks at DE and Umenyiora added 9.5 from the end. Pow pow. That's what we need right there.

Strong DE play is important, more often then not Super Bowl winning teams will have great edge rushers. I'm sure there's a few anomalies but the majority have great ends and 3-4 olbs.

If it were me we would sign him tomorrow . Give him one more contract full of incentives and say here's your last chance. We have ZERO, NADA, Nothing ready to go at DE. Hardy is an instant upgrade.

I would too. I haven't anything that he's definitively done that warrants NFL banishment or weakening this team's pass rush so much.

But, whatever, ship has sailed. Now we're associating with 'upstanding individuals' like Damontre Moore...

Might there still be hope... Stephen said they were moving on but maybe they will move back Hardy's way.
“I don’t see that happening. We certainly had that experiment, and unfortunately it didn’t work out,” Jones said. “We’ve moved on and we think we’ve got some good football players on our defensive line that should only get better. They’re young. I’m certainly not naive, I know we don’t have proven production on that defensive line as we sit here today, but I do think we have some good athletes that are only going to get better.
I don't think so.

As if our difficulties at DE weren't already peaking, David Irving now has a lingering groin pull. Might there still be hope... Stephen said they were moving on but maybe they will move back Hardy's way.

Hardy won't be returning to Dallas. That ship has sailed and the port has been torched.

I was thinking Moore was already on our roster. If we're just "talking to him," I'd prefer we move past him.

I really hate the look of this guy. Literally the way he looks. Weird thing to be concerned with I know, but on top of his reputation he LOOKS like a grimy punk and someone I wouldn't want to root for.

Sure looks like a clear contradiction to me. And a team being hypocritical in their standards.

Not sure how you can see it that way.

The team did give Hardy a chance. Their stance is less, "certain POS's can be tolerated while others cannot", and more along the lines of, "Any POS can be tolerated until they demonstrate that they cannot".

You're basically saying that the team has to give Hardy an indefinite number of chances or else they're hypocrites if they ever give any other player a single chance. Think of how irrational that is for a moment.

Stephen said it pretty clearly. They went down that road and it didn't work out. The only thing hypocritical about the Hardy situation is the fact that they ever signed him in the first place while promoting a culture of, "accountability" and "RKG-ness".

Agreed. Except for that last part. The team's said repeatedly that passion about football and about being a good teammate are what's important to them. Hardy didn't look like a bad bet as far as those things were concerned when they signed him. It turned out not to be the case, and they moved on.

There's no way to know for sure, but Moore looks to me like a case of a team doing some diligence in case we need to make a short-term move at DE. With Lawrence suspended and Irving and Tapper nursing injuries and Russel just not very good, we're able to cover that for the short term moving guys like Jack Crawford over, but another injury means we would want to add a player with preferably some starting experience pretty quickly. Out of necessity. Moore makes sense on a short-term trial basis that way, so bringing him in for a look now when there's some time to do it makes sense. Sometimes you have to hold your nose and plug a guy in here and there. It wouldn't be hypocrisy, it'd be necessity.

I think what's he's saying is if you come out and basically say you won't sign Hardy (a better player mind you) to fix a known problem and the reason for that is because you just don't want to deal with a clubhouse problem again, it's somewhat bizarre and hypocritical that a few days later you'd try out a guy who is an even bigger and well known clubhouse problem.

Doesn't mean the Cowboys should never, ever sign a problem child again. Timing is a big part of this.
