As far as Greens play goes, im a huge fan. I think he could play LT at a high level in the NFL. But how many snaps does he take before he goes down? And its not like 2016 was an exception for him

I personally dont think Collins is the answer at RT. Probably isnt even better then Bell. But I think we need to find someone to start grooming

Thought Cleary played reasonably well at LT last season. Maybe he competes at RT. And then you have Bell.

At this point (IMO) Green has first shot... And he has to stay healthy through training camp & the preseason schedule.

I like Cleary as an option too, I think many underestimate him.

Even if he does stay healthy during the offseason, how can you have faith at this point that he would stay that way when the games count?

I understand what the Cowboys have said - and continue to say - but this is a decision I disagree with.

I think a line with Collins at RT looks a lot better than one attempting to rely on Chaz Green to stay healthy or Byron Bell to suddenly become good at football.

Not sure I agree 100 percent. I think a line with Collins at guard and Green at tackle might be better than a line with Collins at tackle and either Bell, Cooper or Looney at guard.

Collins is probably our best option at both of those spots, but the other guards need to prove that they are better options at starting guard than Green is at tackle. Of course, if Green gets hurt, Collins should be the next tackle up instead of Bell.

At some point you have too.

If not, then why keep him on the roster?

And before you answer... lol, I don't think you can realistically cut a 3rd round draft pick after two seasons.

At this point RT is going to come down to Green, Bell and Cleary. I don't see a RT from this draft coming in and starting.

Green gets the first shot.

I have no problem with a difference of opinion on this one. The Cowboys obviously feel differently too. I hope I'm wrong and things work out great at RT.

I can't argue. All signs indicate that's the way things will go. I'd just do it differently if the choice were mine.

We just cannot devote any draft resources to OL this year ! I think we lost the arms race in our division this off-season, we need a good solid defensive draft to stay ontop of the East.
Collins starts at LG, he has Cooper and Looney behind him.
Green starts at RT, he has Bell and Cleary behind him.
IF, if something happens along the line they have players to cover - now how well they cover will be a conversation for next years off-season.
We need defense, they made their decision about this OLine when they decided not to pursue Leary. (which I agreed with). DE, 2 corners and a safety. Any OT they bring in after that is not starting - so if needed it will be next year not this... They have made their choice.

I think they go with Collins at LG and green at RT
If green gets hurt or can't handle it, plan B will be Collins at RT and Cooper at LG

I thought Green looked very capable when he was healthy. However, I do have my concerns about his health as well as Bell's ability to fill in if Green is injured, along with Cooper's and Looney's ability to start at guard if Collins has to move to tackle.

I guess I might as well throw Cleary in there as being a question mark, too.

I was pleased to get Bell because I do think he can start at guard if we need him too, which makes me feel somewhat better about our plan for replacing Free. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point this season we see Bell at left guard and Collins at right tackle.

I think Cooper would be good between Tyron and Fred. He looked very capable in the Cleveland game footage from last season.

He's not the player he was at UNC, but he was all-pro caliber at that point. I think he's serviceable now. That's all we really need at LG.

That said I'm hoping against hope Green stays healthy. He's got the skill - and Collins could be a stud at LG

really do not see a reason why a fully healthy cooper could not be about as good as Leary was- maybe even better. The guy has the physical tools; those injuries and going from system to system probably had a lot to do with his fall from grace. He has GOT to know that this is it for him; he has to really show something to continue his career let alone get another big paycheck. That is serious motivation.

I don't think it's a motivation issue. He's had injuries and hasn't been the same since. That happens sometimes

If the boys thought that they would not have signed him. If his injuries have debilitated him to that point then he is done and would not be here.

I didn't say done, I said he's not the dynamic player he was out of UNC

It was a tough time for Collins but not getting drafted is working out well for the Cowboys (and him).

I admit that I have not looked at the footage. However, his career has never really gotten going and I just can't see having confidence in him at this point. I hope he resurrects his career here like Colombo did, but Colombo had at least proven himself in Chicago before his injury.

It is a weird story. After watching the game footage I can't figure out why Cleveland cut him. I have to assume that his agent asked them to cut him with the plan of him signing with a playoff team.

He looked way heavier than he did in college but he still moves around OK.
