He said dont be suprised to see us make a trade before opening day. He also said this is the most interest they have had from other teams since the early 90s.

He then said the team, like everyone else, has scouts out all over and will not hesitate to help the team in any area.

Brad asked him who helped themselves against denver and he responed Scandrick, walden and tyson smith. He said they think alot of those guys.

So the next two weeks should be fun.

There has to be another qb coming here this week I would imagine.

Yeah, I think we will go get Beck from Miami. I'd sure like to see us add the veteran WR but we're not going to pay extortion.

I took it more as we will be moving people for late picks. I think that is why they will definitely go get a qb because we are going to have so many second day picks.

I will be happy with simms or beck.

I just wonder if there is a guard out there somewhere that can help this team in the short term.

Tyson Smith? Well, that's interesting. I was thinking 9 LBs, and I still think that ends up being the final number. Wonder if Smith is going to be one of those? I had Walden and Rogers on the team already...maybe not? Wonder if guys like Oglesby and Ball have almost played themselves off this team due to better, more physical play by LBs - particularly on special teams. Have to wonder if injuries to Burnett and Spencer may make the team think about carrying 10 LBs the first week or so?

I'm not sure about a third QB being added though. I think a numbers crunch might hurt that position. I think it may depend on Stanback. If he has to go on IR, the team can probably afford another QB. If he'll be back soon, I don't know if they have room...

Regardless, the sixth receiver is going to make this team. He may actually be the fifth after injuries, and he may not stay on the roster the whole season, but they can't afford to not have another guy handy.

What about earlier reports that Joe Berger was close to contending for playing time earlier in camp?

I hate that Kyle Kosier is hurt because the offensive line looked ready to roll yesterday, but maybe we have an internal answer who already knows our scheme.

Any outsider would be behind the eight ball trying to pick up a new scheme so close to the regular season.

And thanks for sharing Stephen Jones' thoughts, Theebs.

If berger can cut it that would be outstading. I originally thought marten could fit right in there and become a mauler. So much for that thought!

James Marten looked fine at guard in college from what I've read.

Hopefully, he just needs a bit more seasoning before finding a comfort level.

I was really hoping to see Pat McQuistan get serious reps there, but he's still working more at right tackle. McQ doesn't look to have for feet for LT and is he the mauler we'd like at RT?

Jumbo Colombo had a really strong outing last night.

I honestly hope he doesn't trade Scandrick.

But if a trade happens it better be a WR or MLB.

I just don't understand all the hoopla about a QB when BJ is a serviceable backup

Why does everyone want Beck again?

He's 27 years old, heading into his 2nd season. Sounds like Chad Hutchinson.

Scandrick? He is going to be part of our sub packages on defense and a major contributor on special teams.

You can bet your mortgage on scandrick being a major part of this team for this year and many to come.

and the reason for a qb is because, if johnson retires next year we would have nothing. This is the perfect time to bring in another capable quarterback with upside and let him learn and get acquainted with the team and its personnell to be the 2 next year.

Actually I am in favor of trading for a simms or someone similar and drafting a qb next year. Would be pretty nice to have 3 young capable qbs, especially when the 2 and 3 would have no pressure and every opportunity to learn the game.

Don't be worried about us moving Orlando Scandrick.

We're not about to ship out a rookie who just signed a 3 year(?) contract on the cheap after declaring early and sliding to the fifth round.

As for quarterback, why not scour the waiver wire for a suitable 3rd stringer if we want more experience for the spot?

No one is going to come in this late and unseat Brad Johnson at this late date, either.

I believe we will be picking up a WR or QB here in the next two weeks. I see us leaning towards a WR more than a QB because we could always draft a QB in next years draft. Right now we are thin at WR so it would be logical to trade for a veteran WR or maybe Jerry Jones might surprise us(Boldin ) But who knows. Its going to be a long 2 weeks im ready for the season to start.

But did he give any indication of who might be trading bait? Like a draft pick or a young player?

I thought this article was about Stephen Jones of the Rams for some strange reason until it said Scandrick.
