“He’s done an outstanding job and been committed to being around and I think that’s only getting better. That’s what we need of him, is to get well and do his rehab and then get in great shape,” Jones said. “I think one of the tough things about last year for Dez, he plays with such energy, that with the contract dispute, if you will, he wasn’t around, which is business, and consequently he probably wasn’t in his best shape going into the season and then you start to add the injuries when players aren’t in shape and they continued on through training camp and then on into the season and we ended up not having him much last year, so if he can get his rehab done and get himself in top condition, then I think we’ll see the same Dez that we saw two years ago.”

The guy is always posting videos of himself working out but to be fair he had the foot injury so he probably couldn't run on it for a while..

Yeah, not sure what this is all about. Reports were last year he was in excellent shape.

And even if he is calling players, out so what? Fans are always saying that the front office never holds any coaches or players accountable, so now that someone in the front office does is it a problem?

I am saying they have alluded to this before. Jerry Jones said basically the same thing about Carr that Stephen did yesterday, in his own way of course. All I am saying is that this is nothing new.

My post was kind of furthering your point, not challenging it. I can see why it comes across that way.

I think it is sometimes to differentiate between having an incredible physique and being in peak condition. This is not saying Bryant doesn't work out hard.

Some of my issues with him is in two areas: 1) I think he needs to give up on plays sometimes and not keep on fighting. Fighting for extra yards every time is commendable but doing it with three guys on you is probably not very smart. My fear is this will either cause a serious injury or cause a lot of extra pounding that certainly is not good. Sometimes, it is best to go out of bounds or just go down and play for the next play. 2) I hope/wish the coaches were on Dez constantly to conserve his energy. Him getting IV's consistently during games should be a clear signal that he is not being smart with his body. It is one thing to get pumped up for a game, but is another thing is he constantly winds up dehydrated in the middle of games.

Dez is getting to the age where if he can stay healthy he probably had 3 peak years left. He needs to really shine during this time because after that you will probably see some deterioration of his peak skills.

I agree, people holler about not holding players accountable and when you do they get upset about that as well. No one was getting upset when Landry then Jimmy was fining Nate Newton for coming in over weight every year.

I would have liked to have seen the front office not mess up the offseason last year-- e.g., wasted a lot of time being cute last year in Dez's negotiations. A reasonable offer last year would have had him in camp earlier.

I would like for the front office to take some responsibility for the horrible contracts they have negotiated over the last decade (Barber, Carr) and so they took the extreme approach last year and it cost the team.

I would like for them to stop rushing players back from injury (Romo, Dez) and then blaming the players for not performing to the best of their abilities (Dez, not Romo).

I would like for them to stop pretending that they have this great support structure in place for players like Hardy and Gregory. It's a joke.

I would like for them to stop talking so much. This team does have a head coach.

But, you can't always get what you want.

The generic playbook erases Dez for entire games. In one game vs Atlanta last year i saw the falcons use Julio Jones in more creative ways than we've used dez in 5 years

Its easier to watch the game like a 8 year old and say dez dissapeared. Who cares about coverage. Who cares that sometimes Romo doesnt throw to the right guy (like Keyshawn pointed out in the game vs Detroit). Annoying fans

Dez is always spent by the fourth quarter.

He spends so much energy jaw-jacking with the other team and stomping up and down the bench between series, he's exhausted in the end.

It doesn't help that he's not the crispest of route runners either. Without a full tank, he's a rather easy cover late in games.

15 yard button hooks, and 30 yard out patterns aren't creative? You don't say! ;)
