After Garrett's 10-15 year contract is done, Kellen Moore will be Jerry's handpicked successor as Cowboys HC.

I have always felt that he looked like a future head coach.

You heard it here first. [/floaty]

It seems like we had a thread at roster cut-downs where we discussed this, and how the team probably wanted a bit of buffer between Moore and Rush to get the rookie used to the routine of prepping for the backup NFL gig the right way, didn't we? That they didn't necessarily want to ride into the opener with Cooper a snap away from the starting job but that they might consider promoting him after a bit if and when he got the hang of things and they needed a roster spot. Or was I imagining all of that?

I know nobody liked it, but football coaches are conservative by nature. Where fans concern themselves only with upside because they want to believe young players can become great players, coaches want to eliminate the mistakes that get teams beat. It's like Garrett said re: Heath and fg attempts yesterday: they didn't want to risk a bobble or miscommunication or a mistake up 30 at the end of the game. That's how they look at it. So it really shouldn't have surpassed anyone they wanted to use the 53rd spot to buy some insurance for a rookie free agent playing the most important position on the field.
As far as I remember, no one outside of one user here wanted Moore even on the team. It was widely accepted that if we lost Dak for a game or longer, Moore wasn't winning any games for us, so any reason for keeping him was pointless.

trade Kellen Moore to Arizona, Green Bay, or Cleveland for a nicely written thank you note.

"Kellen more stinks! He's not even a viable back up."

"Someone will trade with us for him." :muttley:
