LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's team of lawyers has hired four private investigation firms to dig up "dirt" on the NBA's former and current commissioners and its 29 other owners, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.

The move was earlier reported by The Associated Press, citing a person familiar with Sterling's legal strategy.

This guy is pathetic.

He's not going to go away easily. He's the prototypical Turd In The Punch Bowl for the NBA but I have to admit, it's going to get really interesting if his investigators start bringing questionable activities to the table, especially if it's with the owners. I don't know what he can find on Silver but I'm certain there are probably things he can find on David Stern.

It's all pissing in the wind, man. Sterling is a pathetic, sorry, loser of a man.

As for David Stern, the guy knew about Sterling's horribly racist past and did nothing. I'm not sure what that would accomplish, though, other than proving a multitude of people right about speculation of David Stern's own racism. Stern's not the commissioner anymore. Sterling needs to follow suit before he gets further embarrassed.

Long story short, only someone with a severe case of small ***** syndrome would want to take something like this to task instead of walking away with $2,000,000,000 (billion, with a B) in his pocket for a sports franchise that has been a mockery of the game of basketball since its inception.

he will. like mark cuban said "we've all said and done things others would consider racist"...all sterling has to do is find this stuff on the other owners and stern and silver. its there, just gotta find it.

This is like when the Ottawa Senators owner Malnyk hired a medical investigator or something like that to investigate Matt Cooke for cutting karlsson's achilles. Part crazy part hilarious.

HAHA love it. He is going to turn this into the train wreck everyone was expecting it to be. Should be fun to watch.

I think a lot of people were hoping for this sorta thing. I dont see it helping Sterling in anyway, but it could make some people real uncomfortable and it should be entertaining.

Donald Sterling, "Did you find anything?"
The P.I.s, "Every time we ask anyone if they know about any shady dealings or jerks in the NBA they just start off with the name Donald Sterling."

This guy is a nut job.

But this is the slippery slope Cuban was referring to.

More of a privacy issue than anything else.

If we as a society are choosing to bury a guy for something he said in the privacy of his home, .. the gloves are off now.

This is going to get interesting, ... Here we go!!

Someone, somewhere said something that:

A. they shouldn't have.
B. will be taken the wrong way
C. Was a joke (in good or bad taste) that was made into something bigger that it should have been.

And away we go.... Lol

I agree. The only problem I have is that he was forced to sell the team. I don't think anybody should be forced to sell something that they bought and paid for. He would have had to sell the team when ticket sales bottomed out, but I don't believe he should have had to sell it based off comments that came from a private conversation. He is gonna make the NBA pay for it though. This could get really ugly.

He wasn't forced to sell the team, yet. There was pressure, but the official vote by the owners to actually force him to sell the team never occurred. His wife beat the league to the punch by agreeing to sell the team before the owners could vote.

It might not help him but he really hasn't anything to lose. Get the popcorn ready.

money. The NBA had to get rid of him; sponsors were already starting to pull out. Money man its all about money and if sterling were to hang around it would cost the owners money.
