A cornerback cannot just slide back to safety, for every Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson there are a dozen failed alan ball experiments.

Moore has played the safety position before in New England. He is no Allen Ball.

Playing a few downs as a safety does not make you safety, if that were the case he would be safety not a CB. Just because someone has played a few snaps here or there in case of emergency doesn't mean they should man the position full time. There is a reason why his primary role is CB. Now I will wait for the Church to LB comments. :)

I'm not feeling our safeties. I want my safeties to be in the picture every time the ball is thrown to a receiver helping the DB defend the pass. They never are. If that ball goes over 20 yards, there should be 2 defenders in the picture.

I feel the same way that you do. Although I do like Church, I think he's more of a SS than a cover safety. I'm not sold on Wilcox and he seems lost most of the time I see him play.

As far as I recall his original position was Free Safety when it played for New England and not cornerback.

Wilcox scares me too. We need to find an All-Pro safety pretty soon. That would be huge on this team.

There's like 2 of them in the league isn't it? Did you see how good Jairus Byrd looked last night lol? The guy everyone wanted in our secondary? He looked TERRIBLE.

The defense did get better when Mo went out early and was replaced by Moore. I think we should put him in on FS as well. I too don't see anything special with Wilcox. Why do we keep drafting projects to fill in on the safety position?

How did the defense get better? Claiborne wasn't even out there long enough to say such a thing lol. That's like someone saying the defense was better when Claiborne was out there because the Aint's had 0 points lol.

Sterling Moore is better than Claiborne. He covered Jimmy Freakin' Graham pretty darn well. Two pass breakups.

No he's not. If we have learned anything it is that JG plays the best man. Nevermind that he's coaching for his job. We saw it last year when they cut Allen to hand the job to an untested rookie who was outperforming him.

And I laugh at the whole demotion talk of Mo. This happened a long time ago. Orlando was consistently opposite Carr when the other team went two wide. He was the starter. So another example of JG playing the best man.

If Moore or Patmon had been outperforming Mo everyday when we don't see these players practice they'd be getting reps.

Losing Mo is a loss. Anyone who says otherwise just really wants to hang him and Jerry and be "right."

he went tot he combine as a CB with FS listed as his 2nd position. There has to be a reason he has been pretty much CB at the NFL level and not a FS. Also Pats had him listed as a CB or DB when he was there.

Sterling Moore is a playmaker, always seems to be around the ball. He is tough and can play multiple secondary positions. Not only was he extremely good covering the TE, but he was excellent in run support. He was in on the TFL that knocked Armstead out of the game. I was not a Moore fan last season, but I can admit I was wrong about this kid. Love his fight and his versatility.

Moore is playing well at CB, so leave him there...especially with Claiborne gone. They'll need the depth.

Hamilton is back from his suspension & had a pretty solid preseason. Perhaps he can eventually push Wilcox at the FS spot once he gets going again.

I too would like to see how Moore would play at FS. To me, it's the ARolle (NYG) effect. A guy stoutly built that's prolly better/consistent in coverage vs bigger WRs or TE. Enough speed to cover the deep middle as well. However with Mo going down, he's not likely to play there with a thin CB core.

Hopefully we stop cutting this guy. We are lucky to have him back.

It's so refreshing to see young talented players come into a system and flourish. This guy has a real future in Dallas. When he stepped into an elevated role last night, the defense actually got better. His awareness and style reminds me of a Kevin Smith type out there. Very dangerous because his fundamentals are solidly coupled with great area awareness.

Much credit should go the the coordinators for the new level of consistency that's on display early this year. Marinelli really has that defense counting on each other and utilizing an element of trust previously undiscovered. Guys on the defense appear to be foregoing personal for team. Man. That gets me so amped!

Love that Sterling Moore!!!

Never understood why this team released him last yr. He has been making plays from the first snap they brought him back last yr.

Claiborne is the weakest link on offense. If he was out there long enough he would have been the target consistently. So yes the defense is better without him.
