It makes sense in theory. They get guy that already know the defense.

They can afford to overpay for a couple of years to get their defense up to speed while they coach and develop players within the scheme.

Yeah, definitely makes sense. I always liked Sterling Moore, not sure why the Cowboys seemed to crap on him every chance they got, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal.

One of our best defenders and we could've kept him on the cheap.

Carr and Claiborne are still here but we cant keep Moore?

Come on Cowboys..

You can revamp our corners around Scandrick and Moore.

It was odd that they cut him in 2013. It was also odd that nobody else signed him that year. I wonder if he has some type of personality problem that they didn't like.

I think Corey White is as good as Moore. Different type of players. Moore with better technique, White with better physical ability. I think White could improve with the change in schemes. Regardless they need to draft a CB early if possible.

Again.... The Bucs looked at all the defenses in the league.... And decided they wanted to be us.

Fire everyone.

They want Marinelli to be happy when he leaves Dallas to coach for Lovie again. Mike Florio told me so.

If White is a as good as Moore it's a fair deal. Some people think he is even better. I will defer to their judgement, but Moore was a useful back-up CB that could start in a pinch.

I was surprised they didn't tender Moore. The tender is not guaranteed.

When carter IS good, he is absolutely worth that. He came alive in certain passing downs this season, and I want to give him his due. But he gets lost too often for me to trust him after four years. Maybe he will do better in Tampa, but I wouldn't pay for the risk.

Agreed.

I had a debate with someone on the $3 mil per season for him (which I would have been comfortable with) and the $5 mil per season, which Tampa paid.

They said, "Well it's only $2 mil."

Well that spare $2 mil would have brought in a decent depth player or two vets at the minimum.

With the cap you simply can't give an extra couple mill here and there and not have it hurt you in your ability to buy depth.

Yeah i'd take carter for 3 million a year. No question.
Now marinelli.....

I respectfully disagree.

I think the more Moore :) played the more of a liability he becomes because then the opposing offense can focus on him. He was measured up against Green Bay's #3 WR and was simply not big enough or fast enough to keep up.

And that's probably why he wasn't tendered.

It's been a great offseason for Spagnola. The two guys he complains about all the time - Moore and Parnell - are gone.

Even the 1.5m original round tender is enough to scare most teams off, but take a chance and hit him with the 2nd rd tender for 2.4m

If someone matches then you get a 2nd, if not you re-do his deal or cut him after training camp

Everyone scoffs at them, but PFF had him ranked around 20 out of 108 CBs last year

I thought we'd keep him considering it wouldn't cost but so much. 2-2+ mil annually for a guy who would be among the top 3 CBs likely. Hmmmm I guess they see Patmon as an upgrade with more playing time.

They have forced tender guys to take lay cuts after TC in the past. Danny McCray was one of them.

It just makes me think he has some personality issue or something that causes them not to want him around. Maybe he failed a drug test or something.

The #Bucs and versatile DB Sterling Moore have agreed to terms, source said. He visited them first in the process.

When #Bucs GM Jason Licht was with #Patriots in ’11, Sterling Moore signed to P-squad, then sent em to the Super Bowl with a pass deflection

Championship!

I think people tend to over rate some players just as they hate on other players.
In this case Moore vs. Claiborne........ducks to avoid gun fire....

I'm thinking along those lines as well. Young player who at least is solid and could've been retained at a cheap cost. Not to mention at a position that's arguably the weakest on the roster.

We saw him play the majority of games last year after we beat the Rams.

Didn't really ever see him as a liability at all.

He plays the hardest position to play in the NFL on a team with no pass rush. If he was not good he would've been exposed.

So we will keep Marinelli and take Hardy, you can have Sterling Moore in return.

Sounds good.
