Steve Young was on ESPN and was asked to rank the QBs playing in the NFC playoffs right now.

1. Drew Brees
2. Brett Favre
3. Kurt Warner
4. Tony Romo

He said Romo still has to prove something and that even though he got a monkey off his back, there are still more monkey's out there.

I think Romo does have something to prove. Favre and Warner have their Superbowl titles. They have been there. The problem I have is that Brees has not proven anything during his career. I like Brees, but if we are going to hold one QB to a standard then they should all be held to the same standard.

Romo has been playing better football over the last month than the other three guys. Even so I would rank Warner #1 just because he had such a tremendous game last weekend. Romo would be #2. Favre would be #3 because he finished the Bears game pretty well. He also did a good job against the Giants in the season finale, but that is partly because the G-men quit. Brees would be #4 because he struggled down the stretch and has not even played in three weeks since he didn't see the field in the Saints last game.

I am not a fan of steve young so I really dont care but it is always funny to me how brees lack of postseason success is always glossed over. he is 1-2 in the playoffs.

What has he proved again? And ironically his one playoff win is over a jeff garcia led eagles team at home.

No way you rank Brees below any of those guys, dude. I like this list, but Romo is better than Warner when the latter is having one of this "off" days. And possibly better than Favre depending on the kind of day he's having.

But I take Brees any day of the week.

I have no issue with that list right now. When the season is over if this team does what I believe it will do then Romo will be #1 on that list and in the 3-5 range on the NFL list.

these rankings are so capricious, no one would have put Warner 3rd before last weekend.

Well, Young certainly knows about getting divisional monkeys off his back but them conference championship monkeys are a whole new bushel of bananas. Especially them ones that were roaming the earth in 1992 and 1993. :laugh2:

I think the list is good. I'd flop Favre and Warner even though they are so close it doesn't matter. Romo is where he belongs in that list. Brees has been lights out this year despite the last few games.

They're all lucky to not be listed against Manning who is the top QB in the league right now. (and has been)

Tony Romo's record in the post season is 1-2. So is Drew Brees. Brees has been starting in the NFL since 2002. That is a 4 year head start on Tony.

Tony has led 3 of his 4 teams to the playoffs. Tony's team has never finished last in their Division while he is the primary QB.

Brees has led 3 of his 8 teams to the playoffs. Brees' teams have finished last in their Division twice (2003 and 2008).

Tony's won - loss record is 38-17.

Brees won - loss record is 68-54.

Some will say it is because Brees puts up better stats. Romo threw more TDs in 2007 than Brees has in any season. Romo's INT % in 2009 is lower than in any season Brees played.

Not saying Brees is not a great QB. He is. The double standard applied is rather silly.

Yeah? Who is Steve Young to talk? He hasn't proven jack **** either, unless of course you count winning a championship game that the refs guaranteed the 49ers in 94/95 vs. Dallas by calling one of the worst one-sided games Ive ever seen...or the fact that the NFL allowed the 49ers to circumvbent the cap illegally that year, by stockpiling free agents thay had no cap room for...or by letting the 49ers pay other players with under the table money that year to ***** the cap numbers. That's what it took that year to get the monkey off Steve Young's back. So he'a the last person to tell me about what it takes for a QB to win a Super Bowl.

If Brees is 1-2 in the playoffs how could he have possibly led 3 of his 8 teams to the playoffs? He would have to have 3 playoff losses since he's never won a Super Bowl.

I have no problem with that list.

All very good Quarterbacks and you cannot go wrong with either one of them.

It's a little self-defeating to make a list where Brees is at the top and then say Romo can't be higher because he has more to prove.

I would just say those 4 are really good and leave it at that.

Uh, this year is the 3rd?

Was it that hard to grasp?

Hostile you are on a playoff roll with your posts today. Nice numbers.

These four quarterbacks are all top drawer. You can figure a way to rank them however you want. BUT...BUT if Young's rationale is "monkeys" then there is ZERO WAY you can put Brees 1 and Romo 4.

I have never thought Steve Young was particularly bright.

Brees is better than Romo, just Steve's logic is flawed. Concussions. They're a *****.

You're right, Steve, and you're one of them.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you...
I just had to throw that out there, though.
