Still a chance Romo plays?

I've read that "sources" have said Romo is done for the season, yet we haven't completely ruled him out? Is that correct? I seen Garret said they'll reevaluate him Wednesday and go from there, but maybe that's just a front he's putting up and it's already decided Romo won't play?

For any of those who are educated about the injury Romo has, is there still a realistic chance he plays? I mean he had the injury on the game winning drive, and he was still able to roll out and throw the ball well, and that's without a cortisone shot. So this it what I want to know. Is the injury one of those where you can play, but you just have to bear through the pain? If he does play, is it an injury he can worsen? If so, to what extent?

I'm trying to hold hope that he can still play, but just how realistic is that??? I don't see why he can't load up on cortisone shots and play through it, especially if he can't worsen the injury further. I know that's asking a lot out of Romo, but it's not like he has many football years left so the time is now. This sucks. :(

When a player gets injured during a game, the adrenaline will mask the pain. That's why you see a coach, in any sport, take out a player and let him sit on the bench for a while. After the adrenaline wears off, the pain becomes unbearable depending on the injury. And you get a better indictator of what injury he has. I thought Romo should have been taken out of the game when I saw him hopping/grimacing around and I was shocked that the coach didn't even consider this.

If Romo can't even stand up straight, he can't play. It's sad, but I wouldn't risk his career. He's done so much for the team.

Remember when Romo broke his collar bone? He didn't even know it was broken and he wanted to come back in.

Jay Ratliff and Anthony Spencer were once "day to day" as well.

I blew an L4 out in a ymca league bball game. I got a quick pain /paralysis down my left leg. Came out for 2 minutes and everything locked up. I started moving a litlle more and I thought it lossened. Played the last 10 minutes as If nothing was wrong - seemed to go away.

They next morning, I literally could not move, barely able to breathe... I actually thought I would have cal 911. after 20 minutes I crawled to the shower and could barely get one heel in front of the other to walk. My whole torso was shifted. Like an idiot I tried to go to work. Half way there, I got the siatic pain aginand barely got to the brake.

Later that day, a co-worker took me to the dr... Herniated. They gave me a big prednisone shot and I seemed good as new inn2 hours. Its short lived. Physical therapy was ok. It still acts up. Its the weirdest pain. Completely involuntary. Sneezing or bending to pick up a pencil puts it out for 5 minutes. Actual stress/is fine..luntil the next day.

There were a couple of days though where euthanasia was completely understandable. It is far worse than any break or sprain. Its not a throb or immediate pain where your endorphins kick in. When it goes, you cant breathe, move or stand. Even after surgery, mobility and pain still occur.

Anyway...to answer the question, I cant see how you play nfl qb, but that prednisine shot was a godsend. I have no idea what happens if it gets hit again

No way in hell he plays again, and I mean he may never be the same Romo. He is an older QB now, age is catching up to him to.

VERY Incorrect.

According to the physician that ESPN just had on air live, if its a herniated disc like being reported its not AT ALL career threatening type of injury or anything that should continue to get worse. You generally have surgery to repair and there is a 3~4 month rehab. He should be all good to go.

Thanks for the response, hopefully Romo has a better experience then the one you had, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. And as for the prednisine shot, that's what I'm hoping enables him to play.

I know he's going to be dealing with tremendous pain, but hopefully that shot can limit it to where he can at least throw the ball around somewhat. If there's no significant risk he can seriously injure it further by playing, then I think he'll play. But if he can't play and there's a high risk of him injuring it worse, then it's completely understandable if he sits out.

I know if he doesn't play though, it's not like he didn't try to. Romo's a baller that has played through many injuries, some that even other players wouldn't even attempt to play on. I guess we'll find out Wednesday if there's actually any chance at all though, until then my hopes are still up.

I think he may feel ok by wed/thurs...but it will come back. If prednisone (steriod) is a PED and banned...not a shot

If Romo is cleared to play and he plays that game, he will be my all time favorite, no matter what happens in that game or beyond.

Imagine what message that would be for the team.

Hopefully he is ready for the OTA's with a Gruden led team. :)

I also suffer from back issues. Had one op and understand PAIN associated with it. I am facing another surgery but have been getting epidurals every 4 months for the last 4 years. It really depends on WHAT king of injury Romo received. They have numerous treatments that might get him back on the field. With that said IF the injury involves the sciatic nerve it is all over. Let's hope not.

There's definitely something to be said for Tony's toughness; it certainly is admirable. However, as tough as he may be, I don't want him playing if he's injured and going to be a liability. I love his heart but he doesn't need to play to validate his "toughness". If he's hurt, Orton needs to be the starter.

They have a new procedure that I was scheduled for last month (but when I got down to Tampa my back was worst than they thought) that is laser surgery and the recovery time is between 2-6 WEEKS!

I think Romo is about done if he has to have surgery. No way in hell am I putting all my eggs in the Romo basket hoping he recovers by time the season starts in 14. He'll have to rehab and get back in some kind of shape after recovering from surgery. Since this happened so late in the season, you have to think he'll miss mini camp and maybe even training camp and probably won't even play any preseason games.

The guy will be 34 years old coming off back surgery that's now being reported he had more than just a cyst removal last offseason. Not looking good right now.
