As the NFL embarks on its annual five-to-six-week period of minimal activity, the time for the NFL to resolve the long-lingering Ezekiel Elliott investigation has arrived....

Of course there is no resolution to Elliott's case. The NFL FO wants a cloud hanging over the Cowboys going into the 2017 season. They manufacture controversy all the time to drive public sentiment and manipulate actual events all in the name of social justice. I believe the label that should be appropriately applied to such nonsense is... Fake News.

For whatever reason, the league is conveniently holding this over the organization's head.

How long does it take a multi-billion dollar industry, with unlimited resources, to conduct an investigation?

LOL.... without getting political, our own Government can't seem to investigate anything in a reasonable amount of time with virtually unlimited resources. I suspect that the NFL isn't real interested in finding incriminating evidence at this point. They see a cash cow in Elliot and the Boys. They see New England's run coming to an end. They see an avenue to continue the $$$ or an end to it, for the time being.

This shows gross incompetence and bias against the cowboys. Stuff like this tends to backfire. I wonder what was the longest duration of an NFL investigation? Zeke is about to break that record.

LOL no way! Our government is a model of streamlined efficiency

And I think you're right - the league is using this to keep it's most lucrative franchise in the news, even during the slowest time of the off season. But it's still annoying and they should just close the case!

So are you implying that they want to make the Cowboys "the bad guy" for the upcoming season, inevitably enhancing viewership?

We've been the bad guys, much like REDVOLUTION's Yankees since the assasination of JFK. Maybe you're getting at the fact the NFL is coming up on down time and need to facilitate news by dragging out these erroneous allegations during the dog-days of summer.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. I just think that there are certain teams that can be "marquee". We are one of a handful. The current marquee team is New England and they are coming up on the end of their run. I believe the NFL would like to continue it's run with the Cowboys. If they were to lower the boom on Elliott, I think that hurts the Cowboys chances of stepping into that role. The league has done this forever. They help the teams they want to see be successful. At least, that is my opinion.

The NFL is just being stupid because they were investigated by one of the best law firms in the country in regards to the Ray Rice video.

They're basically using this as a way to say "Hey, we even have an open investigation on a Dallas Cowboy superstar", at the total expense of the Cowboys and the reputation of a young superstar in Zeke. Pretty ridiculous. It's bordering on defamation, in my opinion, obviously you couldn't pursue that legally, but pretty dumb. It also makes them look completely incompetent.

The fact that he just now had to turn over his phone records is a joke in itself. Those texts were essentially what got him off in the first place. Why did it take the NFL so long to ask for them?

Don't let them fool you, they're conducting it alright. Problem for them is, they can't find anything. AND being it's a Cowboys player, they'll drag it out as long as they can. It's a media magnet.
