I don't understand the flack Brandon Carr gets. It's the scheme. He isn't a press coverage guy in this scheme.

We are consistently playing off and giving them the short passes. Keep everything in front of you.

Plus covering slants in the cover two isn't much of his responsibility

I think we had 49 total offensive plays, of which 28 were runs. That's about 57% run if my arithmetic is right.
That's not quite fair, because some of those runs were Prescott scrambles on passing plays. We had 22 clear running plays, 21 clear passing plays, and 6 Prescott runs. I don't remember more than maybe one designed Prescott run: most of those were scrambles on passing plays. Still, balanced.

Nope. First series was:
1st and 10: run
1st and 10: penalty
1st and 15: pass
2nd and 8: run
3rd and 8: pass
4th and 8: punt
Maybe I was thinking the series where it was run, penalty and 1 and 25.

up:

Dez- only skill player on offense to play a good game.

Hitch- Best game he has played since his rookie season.

Lee- As usual, was all over the field

Brown- Other than one ball that was overthrown, he played a great game. A steal in the sixth round.

Jones/Bailey- money in the bank

Wilber- Made the play of the game

Mayowa- maybe getting benched motivated him. Played a solid game.

Down:

Free- words can't express just how bad he was last night. Reminded me of the Minnesota playoff game where ray Edwards single handedly ended Colombo's career. Free has to be replaced this offseason. Period.

Escobar- yes some of the calls were borderline ridiculous but he is a HUGE liability in the run game. I would just assume play an extra OL and take out chances. We really miss Hanna and Swaim.

Carr- Made one good play down field on treadwell but gave up uncontested catches all night long. Don't know why teams just don't run slants on him every snap. He simply can't keep up.

Down:
Lucky - He fumbled. He does not do enough to make up for a fumble. Zeke on the other hand can be excused for an occasional fumble because of everything that he contributes.

Refs - They sucked.

Up:
The RT they could have signed instead of Free. ;)

Great OP but I'm not down on Escobar. Both of those flags were tickytack calls and the kind of thing you can find on any play from scrimmage if you look for it.

Got to whine about something..

Escobar had two penalties, one which shouldn't have been called. T. Smith had two holding penalties against Washington and another this game.

Scandrick had a good game so he can't be the whipping boy this week. Nevermind, he didn't even play last year but is getting back to his old self. So, let's go after Carr for a change.

Lucky had a fumble let's cut him he ain't no Dwayne Harris.

Free has no chance to ever be anymore than the weak link. Tough job but somebody has to be the weak link..

Claim to fame "I was the weak link on possibly the best OL ever"

Good point. As you stated, though...still balanced, which is good.

The only issue I have with playcalling is when you take Zeke out of the backfield!!

And I mean when they spread him out, not when he is out of the game. I just think you should always make the defense have to account for him in the run game.

Just because they call a deep pass doesn't mean Dak will throw the deep pass. They call everything. It's up to the QB where the ball goes.

He had several deep receivers wide open against Washington, but he chose to go underneath.

I agree with this. Sometimes its going to happen sometimes it wont but i feel it can be stressed a bit more often is PI is being called loosey goosey. an auto first down sometimes and i feel Dak can do that better than some Qbs.

Here let me help Erod. I got a guide for you.

Low scoring game = blame playcalling.
High scoring game = praise Linehan's growth as a playcaller.

im consistent on what i dont like, you dont like it, i dont care. but at least i stick to what i see. If someone brings up another view and i agree with it. so be it.

Except that the "some reason" a deep pass or some other play works is often that there was a defensive breakdown. We may call it again, but the defense is different (they adjust too), or the defenders don't make a mistake, and so our guy isn't open, and so we don't throw the ball there.

also true. I can see your point.

Yeah i know. You're the guy that said Linehan finally learned how to call a generation after two decades in coaching and millions in earnings. Just. Now. Learned.

Doug Free could be the weak link on the worst OL.

Don't abandon the run!

What the heck are you talking about. We ran more that game than we have all season. 2/3 run plays were called. If anything we ran too much.

The real issue was the penalties and turnovers.

well im sorry when i think of great offense, Linehan doesnt come to mind all the time. Call me silly. thats my opinion. have i been right? who knows but i have stuck to it.

I have consistent on the fact Garrett has on some big games allowed this team to be sloppy, and thats proven, and at times the game calling has left a lot to be desired. OOooooo i am calling out everything bad with the team.
