since the steelers figured they would never win another SB playing fair, they had to steal one. how pathetic.

I don't blame the Stealers for how the refs called the game.

I would have to agree with you. I still think Pittsburgh would have won, but the refs tainted their victory.

I would say more like the refs bein the Stealers 12th man on the field caused the Hawks to blow opportunities. Any time the Hawks started to get something goin the refs were there to stop it.

What bites is that these refs will not even have to answer to the media for how they won the game for the Stealers. Or even get fined.

When they do such a crappy job in a game there needs to be fines or maybe just fire them.

I do not think people watched the Super Bowl sayin......I sure hope we get to see the refs give the Stealers the game.

The only thing that matters at this point is who gets the 6th ring first.

YOU are the PATHETIC one. Get over it, the Steelers won and no matter what crap you come up with, they will be Super Bowl XL champs. Until you prove they paid the refs, keep you idiotic theories to yourself.

The refs were no more responsible for this win than Neil O'Donnell was for the Cowboy's victory in SB XXX.

He was directly responsible, he threw two outrageous picks in the 4th qtr.

Find a better point to make your stand on.

I can see your point, but this is not about the Cowboys so I don't consider it whining.

It is not about one call, so I don't consider it whining.

And it is MSNBC, FOX, ESPN, PTI, Round the Horn, the Associated Press, ...EVERYONE ! is discussing it, once again, not whining.

You sound like the Steeler fans I have had to listen to.

The list of plays and calls that were affected is long, some are OK with that, while others are not.

I am not going to deny that this was perhaps the worst officiated big game--ever--but enough already.

Nothing is going to be done. The NFL is standing behind this crew and supporting their calls. This will not change the outcome of the game, nor will it create some sweeping reform of the way things are done.

So all the bellyaching and moaning is more tiresome than anything else.

Your choice to read it or not.

I was really hoping that the Seahawks would win, but I didn't think they could beat Pittsburgh.

So after seeing how bad the Steelers played, and realizing that the Seahawks were the best team that day, it is disturbing to see what had happened.

If this happened to the Cowboys, would you feel any different ? Or not.

We are all entitled to our opinions on this, and I respect those who say it was just a coincidence and all that. However, I think they stole it, I think there was collusion, and it's not the first (or second, or third) time it has happened with this particular team in the "ultimate" game. There is something rotten in Pittsburgh and in the NFL but nothing will or can be done about it, so we should all just move on. I think enough people view the situation as less than ideal to outright illegitimate (what was the ESPN poll, something like 80% fel the refs determined the outcome) that it has tainted the reputation of the officials, the league and the Stealers legitimacy as champions-but, in the final analysis, nothing will be done about it and the trophy will remain in Pittsburgh.

If it happened in favor of the cowboys would you be making the same claims? Did Butch Johnson really catch the ball for the TD against Denver in the SB? Or was that a fix? When Dallas played Pitt in SB XXX was Jay Novachecks TD was it an illegal pick play or was the fix on by the refs? There are many instances in almost every game where calls come into question.

There are questionable calls in every game, but not to the extent as was seen Sunday where there were many and primarily on one team and primarily on key plays.
I'm not saying it is a conspiracy, but it definitely looks odd.

3 call. 2 questionable 1 blown in favor of Pitt. Offensive pass interference on Set sorry I have seen the call made with less contact than that and I have seen a non call on more contact that that, I have no doubt that the WR did push to get separation from the DB. Goal line with Rothlisberger there is no clear view to prove it one way or the other and instant replay was not going to overturn it had it been called a TD or not. Last the 15 yard pen. Against Hasslebeck was a bad call and the ref was not in a position to see it so I will agree that was a very bad call. Stevens catch and fumble is ruled incomplete, myself I felt he had possession and was making a football move turning up field and was hit and the ball popped loose yet it is called incomplete I would also add the fumble by Hassleback was questionable as well. Seattle had enough of their own mistakes and drop balls that had as much to do with them losing as anything the refs may have missed. I say all of this and yet I was pulling for the Seahawks as well.

Not quite. When it dominates the headlines on television and even the main board of this forum, it's hard to avoid.

If this happened to the Cowboys, would you feel any different ? Or not.

I would be upset, who wouldn't be? But I abhor excuse-making and Seattle made more than enough mistakes to lose and if we did the same, I would feel that way as well. Winners win, losers lose and real losers make excuses. Had the game come down to one play and the referees blew that call, then I could go right in line with the conspiracy theorists. It was a terribly officiated game, no more, no less.

But I think much of this backlash you see on this forum comes from we Cowboy fans being bitter because it was Pittsburgh. Of all teams Pittsburgh. Had Seattle been the beneficiary, I can all but assure you the reaction, at least here, would most likely be much different.
