If this happens, it scares me to death. He's a disciple of Spurrier....YIKES! On the flip-side, he'd get the most out of Roy and further polish Tony. I'd love his spread offensive style! Maybe we could work out a trade to move up and get Peterson? JJ and our 1st and 4th?? MBIII and Adrian would be lethal!

please. I hate stoops with a passion but he IS a great coach..at least he has been in college. He's considered one of the best there for sure. won a national title. has won numerous conference championships. He gets a lot out of his players even though he can be an arse

I dont know how he would do in the NFL but he is still young...and very fiery. He certainly no gimmick type coach.

Stoops is a better recruiter than coach. I think he is overrated and would be a failure at the next level. I hope this Stoops thing just goes away....terrible idea IMO.

I agree, its an awful, despicable idea, but its also a situation I could see JJ persuing and its cause for concern.

Lord knows he won the national championship with all of the 5 star guys he recruited.

DBair still thinks he got "physically manhandled" when they lost to LSU 21 to 14 and had 4 chances tie the game with less minute left in the game. I guess that qualifies as a "blowout" as well. ALL COLLEGE COACHES GET "OUTCOACHED". Chris Peterson is the only one that hasn't and he will.

do you even remember the game? did you watch it? LSU totally dominated OU that day...they bashed Jason White and stuffed OU's run game...OU had like 150 yds of total offense and White was sacked 6 or 7 times..

only a couple of LSU turnovers kept the game close...one of OU's TD drives started on the 2 or 3 yd of LSU

it might have only been 21-14, but there was no doubt wbout who the far superior team was...and there was Stoops at halfitme, making a total jackarse of himself on nation TV about which team had the better defense

We can only hope that he doesn't or we are in the toilet for the next two to three years.

Just say NO to Bob Stoopid as coach.

I'm wondering if YOU really remember the game... or maybe you just remember a halftime interview that rubbed you the wrong way.

So you don't give credit for an OU TD drive that started deep in LSU territory, but you DO give LSU credit for an INT returned for a touchdown by a defensive lineman (Spears, I believe) to start the second half?

That was a major momentum turn, in the game, and it was arguably a very fluky play.

You can't have it both ways.

Don't sweat it. dbair1967 is just a grump who doesn't like Stoops for whatever reason and nothing will change his mind. It is all good. Most football fans know that he has been a great coach at OU. I am sure dbair knew that Johnson would be a great NFL coach long before he came to the Cowboys.

I would have to agree with Switzer in that the job at OU would be a better job than coaching the Cowboys. I hope he isn't hired and OU has him for a long time.

Stoops is a good coach. Call him a good recruiter if you wish but the truth is that Texas usually out recruits him. In fact, of the top 5 programs in America (of which I believe OU is one), I'd say OU probably has the least success in regards to recruiting. He does a lot with what he has. Stoops teams are rarely blown out and they are usually prepaired. They may not win but it's not because they don't come to play. It's usually because they get beaten by better teams. That is my opinion of him. I, for one, believe that he is very good at what any succesful NFL coach must be good at. He will motivate you. In that respect, he excells.

And if I am not mistaken, Nebraska out recriuted him last year. He is a good coach, but some people just refuse to admit it. Would he make it in the NFL? Who knows. But I love the way some people already know he would not make it. I am sure a lot of people said the same thing about Jimmy Johnson.

ok, so give me some examples of Stoops being a great coach...if all you have is beating FSU once and beating up on Mack Brown and Texas, that isnt much to hang your hat on, and it certainly isnt any sort of indicator that Stoops will be a good, or even average NFL coach

my issues with him are 1) doesnt run pro style offenses at all 2) seems to get outcoached constantly in bowl games or against some lesser opponents
