Stopping Moss

We need to have very soft coverage on Moss. Let him catch the short stuff but make aggressive, sure tackles when he does. Two quarters of that and he'll shut it down, guaranteed. What we can't do is worry about letting him catch passes. Do that and he'll get by tight coverage and score one or two (or three) touchdowns.

Soft coverage will let him run right past our DBs better to jam him at the line, then hope our pass rush gets to Collins.

We need to slap Moss around right from the line of scrimmage. So what if we pick up a few penalties initially. 30 yards & a few first downs from penalties is better than the +100 yards & 2-3 TDs he usually lays on us. This guy is a flat out wuss.

The first couple series of downs, Roy Williams needs to have one assignment & one only....search & destroy. Position him 10 yards out to the field side of Moss, then have the corner funnel Moss right into RW. After a couple of Slobberknockers from "Search & Destroy Roy", Moss will be weeping out his right earhole.

Once he sees that he can't run rampant through our secondary, he will shut down and sit on the bench with his head down like a grade school sissy. Game over!!

:grrr:

I saw some of the Raiders/Eagles game this past week and there were a couple of plays where Moss was sliding down before the ball arrived trying to avoid the hit from Dawkins and he dropped the ball.

We need to let Roy take a good shot at him and get him thinking about where Roy is on the play. That's really the only way, imo, to slow him down because we simply aren't good enough in coverage to think our DBs will properly play whatever scheme we put in against him. We make way too many mistakes in coverage right now to hope that a scheme is going to slow him down.

We need to double team him all game, he will give up around the 3rd 4th quarter like he has been all year, and his whole career basically. Use Henry to jam him at the line as much as humanly possible, then put N Jones out there at FS to shadow him. Porter has been a non factor all year for the most part. Newman should be able to take him one on one all game.

I agree. I also want to see 2 or 3 more guys coming to help clean up after the initial hit is made. I hate seeing guys standing around thinking some one else will make the tackle

Stopping Moss.
There's no such thing.........

You can't stop HOF bound players in their prime.

Its like saying stopping Rice, Elway or Staubach, Sayers or Riggins.............

We've got to find a way to win the game inspite of Moss's expected success.

It would be nice if Gregg Ellis had one break out performance :lmao2: :bang2:

Moss has eaten the Cowboys secondary for breakfast the last 5 or 6 years. Time to make him pay, and Im for seeing him planted hard on the turf a few times. A 15 yd personal foul isnt the worst thing that happens. Having his bell rung might change his game, hopefully.

I agree you can't shut him down but you can contain him and I have seen teams do that to Moss.

Coach Parcells will never do that.

He has said repeatedly he does not subscribe to the theory of "taking one player out of the game".

The Raiders have enough weapons that if we double Moss, we are exposing ourselves to Porter and their TE.

Bill has ran double teams on players even here in Dallas. He is not going to leave CB one on one with Moss all day.

We contained him last year and he still caught 2 TD passes in the Redzone.

When you're 6'-4" 214 lbs and run 4.2 - 4.3. got the jumping ability of Shawn Kemp in his prime it's impossible to contain the player for 60 minutes, because he can hurt you from any position on the field.

We have to account for atleast 2 TDs for Moss, score atleast 3 TDs and a FG and shut every thing else down.

I think Julius Jones and the Running game is the only way to stop Moss.

Keep Him off the field

It's simple really. The Cowboys should sign Terence Mathis.

Moss will always be the guy that I wonder "What could have been?"

All world talent with a 10 cent head and work ethic.

I agree about the running game but I have seen teams slow Moss down, sorry I'm not willing to sit here and say it is a given the Moss torch us all day I think Dallas can contain him, not shut him down but contain him. I also think we have better personel to do that

10 cent head I somewhat agree...........

Poor work ethic I disagree..............

Moss is actually a work out freak. He was part of Cris Carter's legendary off-season work-outs. He's never out of shape and has played in 125 out of 128 possible games in 8 regular seasons.

What could have been..........I believe he would have brought a swagger back to the Cowboys in 1998. His plays would have rejuvenated Troy. He would have opened the game up for Irvin and Emmitt.

What could have been...........atleast we've got Ellis. His next break out performance will be his 1st

Better Personnel.......... :lmao2:

He made Belichecks secondary look elementary , even with an above average pass rush :

Moss punishes the best of the best. There isn't any personnel package that can contain Moss. You can't scheme against 6'4" 215lbs @ 4.2 - 4.3 speed range.

We slowed him down last year, but other players got off. Once in the redzone he caught 2TDs by out jumping and out sizing our DBs after only 27 yards Receiving. He still found a way to punish us even after good containment.

It's a given Moss will torch us and any team...........proof 92TDs in 8 seasons.....the only other WR with similar stats is sometimes considered the best player ever.......Rice.

The only way to win this game is to keep him off the field (running game) and when he's on make sure guys like Gabriel, Porter, Whitted and Jordan don't get off.

He did not kill any of the teams that the raiders have played thus far he has 2 TD in 3 games sorry you can contain him. I'm not saying stop him but contain yes you can.
