Well, I"m still contemplating the loss, knowing we made a few big mistakes. But we had a few bad breaks too. Interception off of Witten's foot? Deflected pass that could have gone in 1000 different directions but found its way into a Giant's defensive back's gut; bobbled ball in the end zone that also found its way into a Giants' receiver's hands!?

Whoa! Correct me if I'm wrong but the Gnats got a few gifts tonight.

What's erking me and has caused me to post here at 4:15 in the morning is headlines such as this...

Same ol' Romo: Big plays and big errors

and this.....

105,121 watch Cowboys lose on final play (AP)

All 3 plays I mentioned above resulted in points. I'd love to see these writers strap on a helmet and show us what they can do. But then again, I guess writing about somebody else's misfortune is easier than being the one who is written about.

I'm not going to get into detail over the source of these articles but they make it sound as if we sucked out there. We didn't suck. We could have easily won that game. But for whatever reason we haven't gotten those bounces in what seems to be a really long time.

Eh. I came here to vent a frustration cause this is beating the hell out of me tonight. I seriously want some payback cause I feel this game should have been ours.

The "could you do better" test isn't exactly a good barometer for whether or not criticism should be allowed. For instance, I can't play the piano, but I sure can tell when someone else is playing poorly. Likewise, sports writers can tell when a player does poorly, even if they couldn't have done any better. You can be a perfectly good commentator, writer, coach, knowledgeable fan, etc. even if you never played the game at a truly competitive level.

That's true. But when I see digs into Romo like that, it doesn't tell the whole story. There were 10 quarterbacks today that played worse and you never see headlines like that in reference to them. I'm shooting straight off my frustration right now. I wanted to shut them up cause I live right in the heart of Giants country. Myself and a buddy surrounded by 50+ Giants fans. Bad enough we had to lose on those INCREDIBLE bounces that went their way, but when I read these headlines.. meh!!!

I'm just mad right now and not in a very objective mood. I suppose I was surrounded by more hostility to the Cowboys than the average person today.

If this team had half the heart the fans did we would be able to win 12 games this year with no problem. But the fact of the matter is they don't have any heart, can't focus from play to play, and when the pressure shows up, they wilt like a flower. I mean besides the back breaking interceptions and dumb Flo penalties, when are we going to learn to tackle? Tackling for the defense is a basic skill...how many basic tackles did we miss last night? Just plain awful...

I agree wholeheartedly with the original poster. If the fans here know so much, strap on a helmet and go to camp next year and try to take Romo's job.

You guys crack me up. Everyone here realizes they don't have the talent of a Romo or any other football player playing at the NFL level. Duh. That said, writers have jobs and fans pay the salaries of those uber talented players (indirectly). We deserve better and there's nothing wrong with making that known in a public forum. Romo makes a boatload of money. The average fan doesn't... We root for these multimillionaires who have one job.. That job is to come up big on the greatest football stage around. When they consistently let us down expect a number of people from all areas to get pissed off.

So what? If we have a team full of bums and everyone here likes to say how they should have done this or that, you've go two things you can do - report to camp next year, or submit an application to be a coach. Otherwise take it for face value for what it is - a bad game in week 2 with incredible bounces that went the wrong way. There's 14 more left to play boys and girls. And it's not like the Giants played all that great the year they went to the super bowl. All about peaking at the right time.

Those ten QBs also don't have a reputation for choking when it matters most.

Maybe the op should strap on a typewriter and publish articles he wants to see.

I wish I got paid 5-10 million a year to throw the ball 40 yards downfield to an opposing team's safety. That'd be sweet.

So I suppose we should do away completely with football forums -- unless you believe the sole purpose of such a forum is extolling a team's virtues and lauding the players.

:jackpot:

Romo is laughing all the way to the bank. Yes, he has a penchant for choking in big games. I don't see that changing. He will never win a meaningful game because he doesn't learn from his own mistakes. He also knows that no one on this team will hold him accountable for his mistakes, so he keeps making them.

I personally wish that the other players had enough heart to confront him in the locker room immediately after the game. I know I would.

I would have no problem if this team cut ties with him...and I'm not buying this "we would suck for years with a rookie QB" crap. Over the last year, Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez (at least so far this season) have dispelled that theory. I'd take one of those two over Romo any day.

First off, welcome to Cowboys Zone. Great post! I'm definitely pickin up what you're puttin down. Many in here are ready to hang themselves over a week two loss with 14 more games to go. Now if this had been a mid-December game, I'd be more out to side with the masses in here. But it's not even close to being December.

Sure, I was pissed off after the game and ready to hit somebody, but I got over it the very next day. I stayed away from the mediots on ESPN and every other media outlet. That by the way helps.

We caught some bad breaks. Games like this are going to happen, but it's not the end of the world, much less our season. This team is still talented enough to right the ship and start playing some really good football, and I have all the confidence that we will.

GO COWBOYS!

Sounds like you're missing the point completely. You are obviously stuck on this one game, considering WE HAVE 14 MORE TO GO.

Couldn't agree with the OP more.

What about a fumbled return by Felix?
No sacks or pressures on Eli?
Missed tackles from Scandrick?
Horrible coverage by Newman and Scandrick?
Safeties out of position?
Penalty that calls back the Crayton catch?
A 60 yard drive by NY to end the game that started with 1st and 20 out of their own endzone?

Were all of these Romo's fault as well?
Take one of thoses statements above out of the equation and we win that game.

You got this right, and to add to this. A fan doesn't strap on his helmet. The Headcoach benches his booty, and plays the back up or the GM goes out and finds a qualified player that can. Just because a fan could or couldn't, doesn't mean Romo's performance is ok or not too bad. I love Romo, but let's not be biased, he played a horrible game and needs to stop those horrendous numbers of turnovers in one game. You should have heard what I called him on that third interception. That one still makes me mad right now. Dang I hope to get rid of that anger.

My response to the title of this thread is:

The number of remaining games has absolutely no bearing on the OP's central criticism; neither the writers nor I will be "strapping on a helmet" at any time during the next 15 weeks.
