'Strong possibility' Warmack won't be top G

The NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah says there is "a strong possibility that Chance Warmack won't be the first guard selected in this draft."
The other option is UNC's Jonathan Cooper, who has also been taking snaps at center. The two are different types of interior lineman, with Warmack winning with a mauling style and Cooper shining when asked to block on the move. Expect both to be first-rounders, and potentially top-20 picks. Mar 1 - 10:37 AM

Yeah I think a few of us including myself have been saying cooper is the better overall OG and better choice for this team. Wouldn't surprise me to see both gone when we pick at 18.

I would think its based more on the scheme a team is running. Zone schemes probably have Cooper higher, power teams Wamack.

everyone slurping at the cooper pick go on and on about the second level.

Guess what: You have to block the guy in front of you first.
Warmack is clearly better at that
And that is more important more often then getting to the second level

Cooper more versatile but yes, who is better depends on who the judge is

Idk this really seems like a case of one guy worked out better and looks better in underwear and now shoots ahead of the player that looked better on tape. During the season and for a while after when all we had to go by was game tape there was a huge gap between Warmack and Cooper. The fact that Cooper has now suddenly shot up doesn't add up to me. The only way I take Cooper ahead of Warmack is if he can definitely play center.

With all that said, I would also be happy if we got either Warmack or Cooper. I do like Cooper, just like Warmack better.

Can't go wrong with either one.. Warmack would be a great consolation prize.

What would suck is if they're both gone, along with Richardson, Floyd, Vaccaro, and L. Johnson. Say Werner, Ansah, Lotulelei, and Moore have already been taken too, and we can't trade back cause no one wants to move up. Who do we take? Ogletree who's coming off a DUI? Mingo who's a boom or bust player? Maybe reach for Fluker in an already OT-heavy draft?

I don't know if you understand blocking at the second level but you can't block at the second level unless you have already blocked your guy out of the way at the first level. You can't just walk by him and block the second level.

IF you can't block your your first guy then you don't get to the second level, thats why defenses use big DTs to sustain blocks and free the LBs from OGs being able to get to the second level.

The cowboys were very high on Iupati(niners). Warmack is a similar player. He may be even stronger and better.

In your scenario, I wouldn't mind T Austin at WR.

Who do the Giants, Eagles or Skins have in their secondary who could cover this guy, along with taking Dez, Miles, Witten and Murray out of the game?

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer Floyd or Cooper or Lotulelei or Vaccaro, for instance, but if I couldn't trade back and couldn't get the OL or DL or Safety I wanted, I'll take the impact player and use Round 2 and 3 to get the OL and DL.

Did Cooper hit on your plasic blow-up doll gf or something?

BOTH of them would be GREAT additions to the team. You don't have to hate on one of them cuz you think the other is better. They're BOTH good guards that would be HUGE upgrades for us.

Lol that people think both could be gone before pick 18.

Its more likely we would have our choice, if we went OG in round one.

Give me the nasty brawler 1st, its exactly what this team needs, someone with a take no prisoners attitude. I do like Cooper though, just not as much.

sounds like someone that reads internet and nothing much else. Second level means you get there; not how.

I gotta say, I'm still wary about spending a mid-first on a guard, especially since the first round has so many solid DT and OT prospects.
