Strongest argument to take Zeke so far

....or the strongest argument that I've seen anyway.

CFB Film Room ‎@CFBFilmRoom
74% of Ezekiel Elliott's 3rd and 4th down attempts resulted in a 1st Down or TD

Other notables:
D.Henry, 60%
R.Freeman 57%
L.Fournette 48%

Another notable stat form the article: 4 fumbles in 3yrs.

With his abilities with the ball, blocking and stinginess turning the ball over, one could make the argument that he may be the best "defensive" player we can take in this draft.

Here's the full article:

im all for him at 4 idk y people making a big deal about taking a rb at 4 especially a n elite talent. with an elite line my goodness he already know how to get through skinny holes what u think he'll do with road size running lanes the oline gonna open for him at times during the game and i think he will actually score on those long runs.....either you trying to win or not...

They're not taking a RB at #4. They can get a good one in the 3rd or 4th. The team needs defensive help. Look there in the early rounds for who the Cowboys will be picking. If they do pick an offensive guy in the 1st or 2nd it will be a QB.

I agree that 4 is too high for Zeke, that's why I was targeting a trade down with either the fins or bucs at 8 or 9. Well, the stupid eagles threw a monkey wrench into those plans, and if Zeke is there for them at 8 , there's a strong possibility they take him.

I also agree that we have more holes to fill on defense, but I'm still not sure if there's a defensive player in the 1st that can help out the d more than Zeke can.

Name me a defensive player that will have more of an immediate impact than Zeke.

Elliot helps the entire team and especially the D more so than any other player in this draft.
Ball control and TOP helps keeps the D off the field. He makes the O elite.

I think OL make themselves elite. But that's just me.

There is already a "good one" on the roster...we are talking about a potential elite back this team has not had since Smith.

If Dallas trades down on draft day then I think it's for Zeke.

No way do they take him at 4.

Ramsey is who I believe they want and we're too stupid to take Wentz if he is somehow available.

Bosa won't intrigue Jerry enough to use a top 5 pick on. He'll want a difference maker.

So we'll trade down a few spots and get a top defensive player or Elliot imo.

If you're trying to win, as you say, then I think taking Zeke slightly lower PLUS a second rounder >>>>>>>>taking Zeke only.
Seems pretty basic. An additional high second round pick is almost like getting another 1st rounder. In fact, you could pair that pick with our other 2nd and move way up to the middle of round 1 if you liked. The value is huge.

That, of course, would depend on 1) if the team really would want to burn a top pick on a RB and 2) if you could find a trade partner in the 6 to 9 range

Probably most 1st round talent that would start and not share as many snaps as Zeke will with McFadden. Off top of my head, both Alabama tackles, Bosa and if Jack or Ramsey would start, them too.

What's the comparison (if any) between gurley/zeke pre and post combine?

I picked gurley as a measuring tool because he is the most recent stud RB taken in the first. I know not all rbs are created equal but explain it to me as someone who did not follow this or last years draft prospects.

Obviously not including gurleys injury

I think Gurley has an edge as a pure runner, but imo Zeke is the more complete back.

They better not trade down further than the 7th pick. If we don't take him, then the Eagles will. And if they don't, the giants will at #10.
Our D and DL isn't that good yet to stop him twice a year.

Right now, CBS has him ranked #9 overall. So taking him at #4 is not a reach or stretch...it would be a great pick.
