I don't know about you guys but our biggest concern on this team...the oline...will face possibly their toughest task all year.

Gurode, Kosier, and Rivera against Stroud and Henderson all game... ...how we handle them will determine the game.

Call me captain obvious :D !

How do you think we'll game plan for them?

~ We can almost forget about running between the tackes for the most part.
~ I think some quick strikes to WR's...use the middle and use Witten and Fasano big time for 3-5 step drops
~ Anything where Bledsoe gets rid of the ball quickly, or we bounce outside.
~ screens galore...

Thoughts?

The same issue we had with the Vikes are the same issues we will face with the Jags IMO. Both those guys are very physical players who control the line of scrimmage. It will be a very long day IMO.

There are mixed reviews about rushing up the middle. Everyone talks about how great they are, but their strength is pass rush. They were considered very middle of the road last year in stopping the runs up the gut. So, we might actually be able to run up the middle if our line can get some push. Problem is, they haven't been. BTW, their middle linebacker which happens to be their best linebacker (Peterson) will miss the game from what I hear.

I suspect our best damage will come from our tight ends and running backs catching out of the backfield. Their safeties will not have a lot of options except to double cover our receivers. If they do not, I would expect Glenn to break of at least 1 big play.

With Henderson and Stroud we should all be nervous.

But time will tell if we will win or not.

I am glad that this will be one of the toughest tests for our newly revamped O-line. We will know early in the season wether the boys will be pretenders or contenders.

I dont expect our Oline to perform well at all. If they crumble into pieces It wont surprise me.

My gut feeling today is telling me a 17-13 upset:mad: ....But I'm a Cowboy Fan so I just hope I'm wrong.

I'm hoping how we got pushed around against the Vikes caused some intense oline training this week, and some serious game planning for those two Mammoths.

We are about to find out about Mr.Gurrode real quick. You can coun't on LB's and S's popping in and out of gaps to try to confuse this unit. If they handle it early, and no one comes free,we'll be set, if not.:bang2:

One of the things I pointed out in my blog was that according to Footballoutsiders.com, the Jags finished 22nd in defending runs up the middle. They were also pretty lousy at defending runs behind left tackle which also means one of their DT's isn't particularly stout against the run.

Henderson is a beast, but Stroud only had 1 sack last year which with their run defense stats, shows that he may not be as good as he once was.

I believe if Gurode and the guard just stray away from the mental mistakes, they will suprise a lot of people on Sunday.

I think we'll see a heavy dose of MBIII, JJ, and Polite up the middle to make them play the run. Probably not alot of yards, but hopefully it will wear on them and open up the pass.

they make anybody nervous. I look for us to run to the outside a lot and make those big tackles run a lot, specially early on. remember the game is 4 quarters and games aren't won in the 1st half. we have done that a lot in pre-season and we will see fasano and witten move out wide a lot or perhaps be on the same side on power runs. once you tire out those big fellows then you slow down the pass rush.

I also expect to see a lot of 3-5 step drops early on and for us to utilize witten, glenn and TO in the short and intermediate routes. this helps pull the safties in.

the second half is probably going to be different. we will probably see some 3 WR sets with barber as the back, since he can catch, block and run on the inside. then once we have the safties pulled in we will try and go deep with TO and glenn and utilize their speed.

this is going to be a close game for 3 quarters and I expect us to pull ahead in the 4th and win it in the 4th.

I also expect us to freely rotate the front 7 to keep them fresh for the 4th quarter.
