I like Sturm, but don't know if I completely agree here; though he is being objective here.

We can get by without Dez and WR isn't all that important to winning.

But the guy is a touchdown machine.

I think that this information just points out the obvious. Bryant does need to turn it up, and we all hope that he will.

Interesting take by Sturm. Not sure if I fully agree with all of it, however, <IF> Dez got hurt for a 3rd year in a row and missed significant time again, I'd probably agree it would be time to cut bait.

Make him a team captain and let him "Risen" to the occasion. If he can't, bye bye!

Here, I'll pitch in...

Ouch. Pretty tough to read that and disagree. Caveat for Dez in that he played hurt several of those games he did play in, and that he was playing with some bad QBs during that time, too, but that's mostly turd-polish.

It'll be interesting to see how he does with Dak this year. The two of them did seem to find a rhythm at the end of last season. It'd be nice to see that carry over into another healthy season of dominance.

But Jerry's favorite or no, the club is swallowing the cap hit on that big contract. I'd say they'll be making another decision on Dez at the end of next season the way it's been playing out.

Put it this way, at age 29 this year, I really hope Dez has been saving his money, because I doubt his next contract is close to what he is getting now.
I seriously doubt he has. He has leeches for family members that don't work and smoke weed all day that he pays for. He'll be broke within 5 years of retiring, imo.

The bottom line? Dez was paid for what he can no longer do, run down the field, adjust to the ball and outleap the defenders.
As I said at the time, he cannot keep landing akwardly because the body can't take it.
Now he must change his game

Hoping for the best, but Jerry should have seen this before we overpaid.

Jerry has done some great moves, but I fear this was mistake

Dez sucks. Dez is immature. Dez isn't living up to his contract. Dez is a distraction. Dez is selfish. Dez is the reason we haven't won a Super Bowl since '96. Dez is the reason for world hunger...etc...Smh

Its almost to the point that these guys like Crawford, Dez, Witten are the last of the old guard bad contracts.

I give him two season then he's gone unless he agrees to a substantial pay cut.
You can see the chest pieces being put in place even now.
I bet the Cowboys will take Dez's replacement in next year's draft, give the new guy one year to get accustomed to the NFL and then say "hasta la vista" to Dez.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes. If the production isn't there, they'll have to. Maybe not drafting his replacement next year, but approaching him about an adjustment once they've swallowed most of the exposure from his contract, and bringing in a replacement that next season if he's not open to it. Dez is such an emotional guy, you don't know how he'd handle a pay cut request or the drafting of a first round WR. He may take it all in stride and just work harder, or he may go absolutely bonkers. I think I'd bet on 'bonkers' but I could see it going down either way.
