I think this stanza by Sturm is the ultimate distillation of the major concern I have with the defense:

"It is pretty clear that no statistic correlates more to winning in football than the turnover ratio. Over the course of my time keeping track, the NFL has had a very steady win correlation for teams winning the turnover ratio in any given game that stays over 75% and often even 80%. "

This one looks like Crawford creates a 2nd lane or Wilson to escape through. If he doesn't try to run around 2 guys to the inside, then Wilson has to go to the gap where McClain is waiting.

Hardy turned the corner which widened that lane. Either way it was McClain's job to spy, not bite on pump fakes.

The lane was created by Crawford. If he stays over there Wilson goes the other way. McClain was spying, but it's impossible for one guy to cover 2 gaps like that. Especially against someone like Wilson.

I don't disagree with that. My issue is 55's explosiveness seems gone. Which is beyond vital for that spot and for any justification of playing him in front of Hitchens.

I agree, 55 is slower this year. Also, is this the play they didn't stop the clock on...Sheesh.

They just got beat by a better athlete, on that play.

It happens.

55 is living off early last year's rep. He's been poor to average so far this year.

I agree. The combination of Lee/Hitchens seemed more effective than Lee/McClain has so far. Yet another disappointment so far this season.

That was a big-time play by Wilson, too.

For a guy who's generally highly overrated, that was well-done.

Don't paint it better than it was. That was designed one look then run Russell, not improvised. McClain blew it.

For one our 1 Tech is not heavy enough IMO which is allowing the blockers to get to the 2nd level.

For Ro, the extra weight doesn't help, but he also didn't take one snap in PS or TC. Last year, while coming off the couch, he at least was in TC. In the game against NE he looked really dynamic, and the past 2 not so much.

My biggest concern is what has happened to Lee? Is he gun shy after the concussion, or is he tip toeing around because he's afraid he will get hurt?
