I would like to see a bit more in blitzes but I also know that making teams drive as opposed to giving up big plays is a big key for a defense that is questionable talent wise.

At 8:47 AM, there was in an intrusive Dallas News subscription application sheet that kept covering up the article and wouldn't go away.

The article points makes the point that yes when you're running a 4-2-5 defense as much as the NFL (and Dallas) then you better make the investment in corners.

A flip side of that argument is that really only 2 linebackers matter for the most part– the 3rd backer is on the field far less than the 3rd cornerback.

this,we are not a good blitz team either.you need speed and timing on the blitzes and if i can see who is coming then you bet Eli can see it too.

Blitzing is nice, but as @Sturm1310 has mentioned in past articles, The Cowboys aren't particularly successful when they blitz.

Dak has the moxie, quickness, touch, and poise to pull of screens better than Romo has been able to.

Interesting point about base defense and DBs. Brown should see the field a fair bit even with all the corners healthy.

We've typically been a majority cover 3 team, I think we ran a lot of cover 1 last year thinking there'd be a Hardy/Gregory effect on the pass rush with DLaw.

Yeah, that didn't happen. That's a big reason why we didn't get nearly as many turnovers.

Wouldn't be surprised if we changed back to a primarily cover 3 defense this year again, with Jones as the single high.
