Don't be fooled - just because he has tremendous athletic ability that he is "NOT THAT SMART" and that he gets by using his athleticism. That is what I was trying to imply.

Gotcha. I'm not sure I knew what you were implying. Too many implications in this conversation!

McClain against shady will be a great matchup,I bet he will sniff out some of those cutbacks.

Isnt Lee still in the film room? If so, that could only benefit Rolando in his preparation. You don't lead the team in INT's as a Mike without knowing film.

Actually I disagree about Lee being instinctive; that is Ro. Lee spends so much time watching film he recognizes and reacts; ro plain sniffs it out.

Both work very well.

When healthy Lee has been much more productive on a per game basis than R. McClain.

In 2013, in 11 games (and really less than 11 considering he missed a couple of halves), Lee had 99 tackles, 4 Interceptions, and 6 Passes defensed.

In 2014, in 6 games Rolando McClain has 31 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 passes defensed. He also has a sack.

Lee had the ability to run sideline to sideline and basically be involved in every tackle. Conversely, that ability is probably a bit of his downfall. He doesn't have the body type to be in on 'every' tackle and can't make it through a season.

My point with this post is not to say that I'd rather have Lee than Ro, it's just to point out then when healthy Lee is a MUCH more productive player.

Like the 21 points citation. Seem to recall that Landry used that as his Win Criteria. In other words if we can hold them to 21 we should win the game.

Agree. Also looking forward to seeing him plant McCoy. Not for the sake of injuring him, just an outright clean rocket shot that sends the message you won't be doing your fancy foot work today against us.

No, it's not.

I'm not sure why there seems to be a need to compare McClain and Lee because both are Pro Bowl-caliber players with different styles who just get it done. It's a lot like trying to debate which is better a Golden Delicious Apple or a Red Delicious Apple.

I for one am glad we have both of them. To me they raise the bar for LBers and that's a good thing after thinking we were drastically weakened when Lee went down.
