What an unexpected pattern we have stumbled upon. After the first preseason game in Los Angeles, the only thing to do on the blog was to marvel and study the performance of rookie QB Dak Prescott. So, for the second game, I was ready to look elsewhere. Yes, there are plenty of other options again: Who is Shaneil Jenkins and why did Denver not want him (tomorrow)? How good was Alfred Morris going to be in 2016 before the Cowboys drafted his replacement? Is Brice Butler ready to break out? But in the end, it seems to be trying too hard if you ignore how Dak took his unreal performance in Los Angeles and matched it again in his first home game against the Dolphins.

Again, we will concede that it is just the preseason. Again, we will concede that defenses are not game-planning the Cowboys. Again, we will concede that the Cowboys wanted Connor Cook more than they wanted Dak Prescott and tried to go get Paxton Lynch if they could have agreed on a price.

All that is true. But dang, this kid is turning heads.

Good stuff, Bob. Bob, on this play you say Gavin Escobar is on a route, but he's actually locking up Jason Jones on a pass rush. Great job by Escobar here.

Who is to say that Cowboys coaches could not do something similar than Cook or Lynch? It's not like Prescott was seen as better than a 4th round pick leading up to the draft.

If this run pass option (rpo) is helping dak so much. . What can we expect Seattle to throw at him ? Just the better disguise of coverage seen in regular season? Or man on one side roll zone coverage to Dez side?

Swain did the same on the bomb to Butler. TE's are doing well blocking.

If you guys were to go on youtube and put in "Dak Prescott vs this team or that team" you would see all of his highlights of games he's played in. Accuracy is not his problem. The guy always knew how to hit his target. His problems have been, bad offensive line play, bad receiving core, and bad play calling.

What I'm really diggin' is that he's got throw first.......run second mind set.

So far......

Well they never did anything to make our other backups look this good in preseason. Somehow I doubt Cook or Lynch would look this good either.

Exactly, if it was all about being coached or mechanics then we'd at least been able to salvage one of these project QBs over the past decade or so.
