And we were correct in thinking it. Much of that core -- the line, Witten, Dez -- remain in tact and are why we were back in the playoffs this season.

But, yes, if we move Zeke in the offseason, Dez goes down in Week 1 and Dak follows him in Week 2, I'm OK with writing off the 2017 season.
Just saying, we blew an opportunity. #1 seed...Home field...health. Good chance we won't be in that position next year.

I agree it's a wasted opportunity. Getting the 1 seed is hard to do; who knows the next time we have as good of a shot as we did this year. But that doesn't take away from the fact we have a good young core that should put us in playoff contention for years to come.

Yep. No sure things in the NFL.

Hell, the 2007 Cowboys called and asked about their bright future too.

Gotta take advantage of these opportunities. HFA throughout, a weak NFC, and a Texas Super Bowl? The stars are unlikely to align like this again anytime soon.
Then quit watching, that simple

Ya know, New England is looking for a few guys just like you to join their band wagon. Otherwise...

I've never seen two uglier, ice-in-the-vein kicks as Mason Crosby's yesterday.

You just know he's due to miss those now against Atlanta.
Just posted something similar. From a behind the play fan perspective...absolutely gut wrenching seeing those two kicks somehow float between the sticks.

There was an interesting comment to Sturm's post - why didn't the Cowboys simply tackle all of the GB receivers (as they got off the line) on the 3rd and 20 play, drawing a short (5 yards?) penalty and giving GB nothing but a long hail Mary option at the end?
Same tactic - different scenario - that Alabama should have used on the final play in the national championship game.

Yes, that was pointed out by the poster. But, it's over and I suppose that we need to get over it too (eventually).

Their skill players on offense are no where near our skill players on offense. They have a washed up running back and a great tightend (Thats itt). All their WR's are #2's at best

And Cam is missing something that Dak has in abundance, heart

And our defense had maybe one player who would be in the field for their defense. Ands supposedly defense wins championships, or so I hear everyone say.

The are no guarantees. Only the Patriots get to the championship game every year. But we don't get to play in the AFC East, and Red is no Emperor.

Yep, I am finding little comfort in the whole bright future narrative. This was pure and simple, a missed opportunity that may never come again. There are many positions within in this team that bodes a bright future, there are also some massive MASSIVE holes that perhaps could derail this team going forward.
Ditto. Every season with a shot like we had this year is a gift. There are no guarantees about next year. Injuries, other teams game planning for Dak better, etc are all very real possibilites. I'm not bashing Dak at all and I doubt it will happen but I can't help but think of Kapernick, RG3, etc and how they fell apart after a year or two of great success. Again, doubt it will happen but I'm not sold on anyone in the NFL after just one year and that goes for players that start off bad and vice versa.

Just how good will Dak be after a couple of years of seasoning?

Although with the right moves this off-season, we may not have to wait a couple of years for the ultimate goal.

Dallas will never have an opportunity this good again. They may win but it will never be as opportune for them again.

Well, look at Carolina. Also, health is not guaranteed. We were probably the healthiest team in the playoffs yesterday.

Agreed but look at the injuries on GB? Good teams find a way. Nothing is guaranteed, but this is a young team that has a wide open window.

Because you chance them breaking free and being wide open for a TD?
