And apparently Steeler beat writers are confirming that we were on the phone with Shazier's agent when the Steelers got wind of it and decided to take Shazier at 15 rather than entertaining thoughts of trading down.

If true, that explains the angry hangup on Stephen's end, too.

I like the Martin pick a lot , but this shows the level of concern we have with Carter.

LOL @ a project

He needs to build on that frame and it is not going to happen before game 1. I'm glad you think he is an impact player from day one but that is not the reality. He should turn out to be a good player but it will need work to come to fruition.

Dallas got their best bang for the buck with Martin, he will be ready to go from the start. Shazier reminds me of Carter, needing some work and time to see what they will bring to the table.

shazier is a beast . Carter is a lazy bum. you cant compare them , shazier goes full speed every play and is flying around all over the place. He is a stud. Im not upset with martin , but cmon calling shazier a project is kind of silly. Projects arent taken in round 1.

Then how do you explain Barr, Manziel, Evans, Robinson, or other first rounders with huge holes in their games?

Shazier would've been my pick as well. Intriguing prospect.

When he was gone, Martin was next on my list (before wanting a trade down).

This really sounds little league. How could they botch that? I read the other day we lost out to Max Unger because Jerry told Holmgren we were interested in him. I'm starting to think when I read some pre-draft inside information about who the Cowboys want it isn't a smokescreen, it's probably true.

I don't think he gets enough love but I'm a huge fan of Christian Kirksey. He's gone as far as the 4th in some mocks. He has the speed we want for our OLB's and he is three down player. Very adept at zone coverage.

Telvin Smith is a poor mans Shazier.. hope we give him a look in the 3rd.

I'd take Telvin over Shazier straight up.....the only thing that scares me is the +drug test Smith had. Telvin is all over the field making plays
