I don't think he gets enough love but I'm a huge fan of Christian Kirksey. He's gone as far as the 4th in some mocks. He has the speed we want for our OLB's and he is three down player. Very adept at zone coverage.

Love Kirksey around 4.

Shazier has a heck of a hard time getting off blocks... and honestly he overruns or otherwise misses a ton of tackles. I would've been annoyed if he was the pick when Martin was on the board.

Also, I can't buy this story that we were on the phone with his agent and PIT caught wind. What would be our motivation to make that call before we were on the clock? Just not sure it makes any sense.

Don't understand Pitt taking him at all. Don't think he fits 3-4

Rather have Martin anyhow and Smith in the third round over Shazier in the first.

Guess it's obvious Carter's days are numbered. I think they should trade him to the Jets.

I would take martin over shazier 100 times out of 100...I had projected shazier to us in a few mocks, but after we traded down (and Martin gone to NYG)...I am very happy with Martin (#71)

Feel the same way.

Before the draft, I think here the popular opinion was 16 was way too high for Shazier. I think this board would have erupted if Shazier was the pick at 16.

It wasn't our greatest need but I'm more comfortable with Martin over almost anyone else. Mack is a pretty sure thing but he was long gone. Clowney has questions about his work ethic. Martin neutralized Donald at the senior bowl. Shazier's instincts are questionable. Beckham seems like a sure thing but We have two pretty good starters and it's a deep draft for WR. Barr got shutdown in the New Mexico game.

I hope Shazier is a complete non-fit for the Steelers if that's true.

It is my opinion after the draft too.

Thinking it was the best value they could get between a trade Shazier, Martin, or a trade down.
Well done.

I like the Martin pick better anyways. Shazier would have been a project, not big enough with a smaller frame than what is needed.

THANK YOU. Good LORD we dodged a bullet...I watch a crap ton of Big Ten football and Michigan, MSU ran right at this guy with great success, then Clemson did the same thing in their bowl game. He's fast and has good instincts but he needs to add about 20 lbs of muscle and that could take 2 more years. He's a pup....we took the right guy, thankfully.

I'd take Telvin over Shazier straight up.....the only thing that scares me is the +drug test Smith had. Telvin is all over the field making plays

I'm not up on all this like some of you guys...was it marijuana or isn't that divulged?

Disagree about the lack of need. We had zero depth along the OL before this pick and looking into 2015, we needed another OL. Free will be gone next year. This pick allows one of our starters from last year to become depth. In 2015, we move Martin to tackle and find another guard via the draft or FA.

Couldn't have gone wrong either way IMO. Guy is instinctive hard hitting, fast football player. If pit can protect him and get a big body next to him he is gonna fit nicely.

Phew! Glad the Steelers took Shazier off our hands. This guy is fast BUT the games I watched he couldn't get off blocks, was on the ground a lot, made a lot of ankle tackles, and would often take bad angles/ overpursue the ball carrier. Often I would see him just sit and wait for the ball carrier to come to him to tackle. One of me least favorite players to watch and I think teams fell in love with his measurables at the combine too much. Give me C. Kirksey in round 3 or 4 instead :)
