I doubt the Cowboys would trade down just for ****s and giggles. If they trade down, I suspect they feel good about the players that likely would be there.

They may well do so, especially IF the player they covet is gone before the 34th pick.

This article makes it sound like Andrews gave him an updated status today:

http://fansided.com/2016/04/29/nfl-draft-myles-jack-told-he-wont-need-micro-fracture-surgery/

Dr. James Andrews, who examined Myles Jack in December, told the UCLA LB today that he does not need micro-fracture surgery.
2:57 PM - 29 Apr 2016

Wow. Andrews could have saved Jack a lot of money if he'd given his prognosis a day earlier.

What's odd is if James Andrews does have this diagnosis on Jack, why the heck is he still on the board?

Same reason players like Marino, Sapp, Moss, Tunsil, Gurley, etc. fell. FO's are worried about their jobs and overthinking it.

Don't think this is anything more than trying to stop his slide.

Teams are still going to rely on their own doctors more than Andrews.

If I can move from 34 to say 40 and get a 3rd rounder, that 3rd rounder is valuable in this draft. There are going to be some quality DL in this draft sitting there in the 3rd.

I am all for trading down if a good deal is there.

That would really be tempting. If there is a pool of 3-4 players we want still available when we are on the clock, I'm trading also I think. Even if it's just a few spots for a 4th rounder.

Unless Mr. Andrews picked up a brown bag filled with straight cash homie from one Jerral Wayne Jones.

Smooth move, Skeletor.

Andrews just saying this today and potentially keeping Jack in the first round yesterday is the reverse of the guy who leaked the Tunsil stuff minutes before the draft. LOL.

I don't have the medical details but if this is another guy that may not be on the roster in 5 years then i'll pass.

why wont Zeke be on the roster after 5 years? he will be just 25.

why wont Zeke be on the roster after 5 years? he will be just 25.

Because he'll have 5 years of wear and tear on him most likely, he already has a Top 10 running back contract before even playing a NFL game and would likely want way more than his rookie deal paid him, and the Cowboys have said they won't pay for guys with mileage on them.

So unless he's unusually fresh 5 years from now and/or he has a very fair contract demand, there is the very real possibility Elliott might be a 5 year player for us.

Drafting linebackers with an injury history is so 2011. DEs with a troublesome drug history where the cool kids go to spend their picks nowadays!

If THE Dr. James Andrew said it (the doctor who has operated on more professional sports players than almost any other doctor practicing today), then the Cowboys had better run the card up to the podium with Jack's name on it.

I trust Dr. Andrew's expertise and opinion.

TKD,

I agree. Dr. Andrews is one of the finest orthopedic surgeons in the country. His evaluation would/should carry a lot of weight.

Jenky's post (no. 17) says Dr. Andrews "first examined Jack's knee in December." Has Jack been seen by Dr. Andrews since? Schefter's tweet leads me to conclude he only examined him in December. The timing does seem strange, but one would think that teams doing due diligence might have consulted with Dr. Andrews, and that the risk in the 1st round was still too high.

I'd still love to see him lining up opposite Lee.

If a few guys keep sliding, I'd gladly take a trade back. You could easily get a guy like Howard at say 40 and pick up an extra 3rd or even Bell around 45 and get a few more picks.

People are so scared to move down and I never understand why.

It is simple. The lower the pick, the more risk. Dallas does not draft well after the first round anyway. Why trade down if the chance of them screwing up is greater?
