take him, and then get J.Smith in the 3rd round...the LB corps in 2017 would be phenominal

On paper it would, but that is all. We would go through the same frustrating fits with those two as we do when Lee is injured. Lee is a prime example why you don't draft injury risk. They can't be depended on to play from week to week.

I was being a little facetious, although I would be happy with one of them

I'll take Lee over DE's that are suspended TE's that never play and small school defensive back projeects that never pan out.

Jack is a top 5 talent.

Because he'll have 5 years of wear and tear on him most likely, he already has a Top 10 running back contract before even playing a NFL game and would likely want way more than his rookie deal paid him, and the Cowboys have said they won't pay for guys with mileage on them.

So unless he's unusually fresh 5 years from now and/or he has a very fair contract demand, there is the very real possibility Elliott might be a 5 year player for us.

We don't know the market for RBs 5 years from now. Could be more, could be less. It changes all the time

I don't have the medical details but if this is another guy that may not be on the roster in 5 years then i'll pass.

Every player might not be on the roster in 5 years. Even if they are good there is a good chance they will go to another team because they want too much to stay. Outside of possibly a QB or an elite player (not someone you plan to draft in the second) you draft a player for his rookie contract, anything after that is gravy.

Does Andrews really have any information that the NFL team doctors didn't? Or does he just have a different opinion? 32 teams passed on him - that really gives me pause. Feels like a much bigger risk than I thought it would be.

Lee has already outproduced his draft slot, despite the missed time. I don't think he's a good example for your argument.

Picking Zeke clearly means they are doing all they can in the Romo window. Jack is a long term risk but he is probably the best you can do for the Romo window. I say take him. The stars need to align in order to win a superbowl, no reason to play it safe now. Lawrence needs to come back strong from his surgery. Gregory needs to stop getting suspended and become an elite pass rusher. Mo Claiborne needs to play closer to his draft status. Need to do something before attrition hits all these young players (mostly oline) and they go out and get big contracts and need to be lucky with injuries.
