Well when you go back and edit your original post to state that you don't mean to keep folk, then retort in response to my post that you did not mean folk...maybe you also need to go back and edit the following post you made...

Or can I ask you a question...an improvement and upgrade over Who exactly if you are not talking about folk? Do you mean an improvement and upgrade over any other FA that was not on the team? Would they not have to be on the team to be an improvement and upgrade?

:laugh1:
I responded to you before editing the op. And I only edited it to make sure any new thread responders wouldn't be misguided by my lack of clarification... not to validate my retort, hence, the "*edit*" notation that I did not have to add.

In terms of the upgrade statement... I understand what you're asking.
I meant in comparison to other potential FA Kickers whom I may regard as an upgrade rather than a sidegrade, not in relation to the alternative of keeping Folk. (if that made sense)

yet you named no potential FA kicks as upgrade and I think there is a reason you did not...because I doubt there is any that are better. As I stated in my first response in the thread...they all have flaws. I kind of liked the idea of gramatica (sp?) but he was a FA longer than the others so who knows what his story is...I just remember him basically tying with folk in that year they were here together in preseason so they went with the rook. But really when you are signing FA kickers this late in the year, you are not going to get a great one...you just have to pick who you think is the best on the island of misfit toys and the FO happens to think SS is the best one and I don't know how you could argue too much with their decision seeing as it appears his FG percentage seems better then the others available.

Maybe we get another one in the offseason, maybe we draft another, but the pickings are slim and claiming you will come back later to complain about it is silly...Just as silly as if someone did the same to you if they picked a Kicker you thought was better but screwed up in a game.

Though not a fan of his, he was 18-21 .. they cut him because ..

1) the Commanders season was over
2) sends a message, though somewhat weak, that if you fail to produce/execute, you're gone
3) the chance to knock off an undefeated team was the last real big game for the Commanders this season
4) the team and fans focused all of their disappointment for the season on the easy target .. the guy who lost the game for them that had no impact on their playoff chances.

.. and I'm not picking on the Commanders fans or players .. we would have done the same thing had we been in their shoes. Every week we win, you hear the fans/media say "resign/keep <insert player/coach here>" and every week we lose, they say "cut/fire <insert player/coach here> immediately!"

Suisham is signed [to the Cowboys]. I heard it earlier. I'm sure some of y'all did too. I just haven't seen in confirmed on the board.

Very few people are on the Suisham bandwagon. There are no sure-thing kickers available right now. I like Folk and I said back in preseason that he did not look right with his kicking mechanics. To me, hip surgery for a kicker is likely to be the same as a receiver or running back coming back from ACL surgery .. they usually need a full season to return 100%.

I hope they put Folk on IR and bring him back into camp next year .. I just hope if/when they do, they also bring in competition.

For now, we need an upgrade and Suisham is an upgrade over Folk. I will not have great confidence in him but anything is better than the current version of Folk.

Agreed. The only thing I don't like about Suisham is that he doesn't have the leg that some other kickers do. I like his accuracy, just not his strength.

Does anyone know his career long?

And wouldn't it be something great if he kicked the game winning field goal while he pretty much doinked the game losing field goal against us?

Talk about karmic payback for cutting him.

Suisham rejoins Cowboys

Posted By DAILY NEWS STAFF

Updated 3 hours ago

Kicker Shaun Suisham of Wallaceburg signed today with the Dallas Cowboys.

He replaces Nick Folk, who missed a 24-yard field-goal attempt late in Saturday's 24-17 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Suisham was released by the Washington Commanders on Dec. 8, two days after missing a 23-yarder against the Saints.

Suisham made 18 of 21 field-goal attempts this season with the Commanders.

He's the most accurate kicker in franchise history with an 80-per-cent success rate.

Folk made the 2007 Pro Bowl, but he's missed a kick in six straight games and is 18-of-28 this season.

Suisham was scheduled to work out today for the Cowboys, according to several reports. He played for the Cowboys in parts of the 2005 and '06 seasons.
