You groom a guy for years. Undrafted and all. He proves himself. He has a great chemistry with your superstar undrafted, franchise QB.

You dont trade him. Not even for 2 1st rounders like Fuzzy said...

I agree... no way... no how you let Austin go...

He is definitely a throwback... he plays for the joy of the game... and he's darn good at it...

I can't conceive of anyone preferring Jerry Jones and the gang of guys no one else would hire running the show over Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells. The biggest reason we have the roster we have is the guy running the show in Miami.

Yea, sure..

It's been proven PLENTY of times that he wasn't " the " biggest reason, unless you mean pants size. He was important, he brought structure and sense of discipline the organization badly needed when he came in, but his decision when it came to talent evaluation was 50/50, at best.

This roster wasn't built by one guy with a 50% failure rate in talent evaluation.. and that's being a bit generous.

As for Jimmah Jenius.. The proof is in the puddin'.. Didn't win crap down here, finished with a worst record than Shula ( in Shula's last 5 years ) and even though he got what he wanted, ie: complete unadulturated power, his legacy down here is the 62-?? romp the Jaguars put on his butt in his last game as a coach.

This is one of the dumbest ideas I've seen posted yet. There is absolutely no way we trade Austin to the Dolphins for the chance to draft Bryant.

If anything happens, it will be Jerry Jones trading with Parcells and taking Parcells to the cleaners again like he did with that lopsided Fasano trade.

Maybe we can sweeten the pot by throwing in Witten and Ware just to ensure the Dolphins bite.

Yawn.

Swap of first- and third-round picks and the Dolphins get Miles Austin?

Not a chance.
Austin is now a proven commodity.
Too much of a gamble.

We're in the crazy season of NFL rumors and tea-leaf reading. For instance, CNN/SI's Peter King is reading Tim Tebow and his agent's refusal to talk meaning Tebow will go between draft slots 28 and 45 (I agree.)

Other reports say the Dolphins are asking for a third-round pick for Justin Smiley. Huh? They don't want Smiley because of injuries. Yet they're supposedly asking other teams for a third-round pick for him? No chance of getting that. As I said when Smiley was told he was gone, they'll be lucky to get anything for him at all.

The most interesting rumor for Dolphins interests is that Dez Bryant will work out for the Cowboys, according to ESPN.com Joe W. tipped us off to this one.

Dez Bryant won't be there for the Cowboys at No. 27. He might not be there for the Dolphins at No. 12. But if he is, doesn't this workout support another trade between the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his former employee, Bill Parcells?

Swap of first- and third-round picks and the Dolphins get Miles Austin?

Essentially, it'd be Austin, the No. 27 pick and Cowboys third-round pick to the Dolphins for No. 12 pick (Bryant) and Dophins' higher third-round pick.

Looks too good to be true, meaning it probably is.

Then again, Parcells and Jones made two draft-day trades in 2008. A Dolphins' fourth-round pick went for Anthony Fasano and Akin Ayodele. The teams swapped sixth-round picks and the Dolphins got Jason Ferguson. Those were pretty good deals for the Dolphins.

Why in GODS green earth would the cowboys trade a still young receiver who just had a break out year for the pick of an unproven possible problem child (i dont think he is, but there has been discussions). That absolutely makes no sense, and I refuse to believe that cowboys brass is not smarter than that.

Wow. I had thought you might be joking. If you have such a low opinion of Parcells and Johnson, there isn't much left to be said.

The pretty good deals for the Dolphins resulted in three players who are not likely to be Dolphins in 2010. But Jerry, in his compassionate mood for good ole Bill, will trade away the most exciting young WR in the league right now for the opportunity to draft a WR who will get big bucks, and take two years to be effective, if ever.

Naw, I don't think so.

that trade makes absolutley no sense. why? is Dez Bryant a proven NFL WR? Austin is. we have invested a lot of time to develop Austin and now when we are ready to seek the rewards, reap the fruit we should traede him to another team for a potentially good WR? in the middle of a superbowl run?!!!! makes no sense whatso ever.
\
Austin is a proven probowl caliber WR in the league. one who is still getting better. one who has not reached his ceiling. for Bryant and as talented as he may (so was Charles, so was Mike williams, so was Roy Williams, so was......on and and and on). that would be like jerry sticking his arse up in the air telling Miami brass to stick it to him.

How is that a good deal anyway. Austin is tendered at a 1st and 3rd round choice to sign him. So Parcells would need to give us the 12th pick overall and their 3rd round for Austin then if Jones wanted Bryant he could take him at 12.

No way Jerry would ever do that deal with the Boys giving up our own 1st round pick also. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Of whom does he talk about ? Of course this would be a great deal for the Dolphins.

For us i would think about the deal for getting the Dolphins 1st and 3rd for Austin (and not also our draft picks). Otherwise forget ist Mr Parcells. Who would be so stupid to swap draft picks also ?

Only stupid mediots can write such a crap.

Loooong offseason.......

It is an example of a lame sports journalist speculating without thinking in order to generate some buzz.

Now I'm guessing this is the Cowboys bringing in a "just in case" replacement, in case wild Bill does take a hit on Austin, by giving up his first and third, and the Boys want to be ready if there is a reason not to match to come as close as they can to a replacement player....................
