I agree . But our opinions don’t apply to team decisions.

They are dependent on the hype from Jerry, Stephen and everyone who aligns with the hype setting mandates and expectations based on them.

They damn sure don’t expect a 6-10 season.

But you know it also relies on factors. If the cowboys make the playoffs and lose a tight divisional game against a very good team. It doesn’t mean Mccarthy failed in season one and they need to move on.

If Dak and Zeke go down for the season. He won’t be expected to win playoff games that season.

There’s many factors to consider for one or two season.

At what point did you realize it wasn’t great. At 1-4, 1-5, 1-7 or 6-10?

He is getting a 5 year contract and he will play it out. I want to see improvement.
It's hard to win a SB but if this team makes the playoffs and plays well regardless of the outcome he is staying.

Of course. But what do you think Jerry’s expectations are the first couple years with a roster they’ve touted as best since the 90’s. Enough to contend for the Super Bowl..

This isn’t about what you and I think. Team decisions are made based off of Jerry’s rhetoric and how the media, fans and analysts align as such. That’s how public expectations are set.

What do you think expectations are now with a greater HC based on the rhetoric we had with this roster this season?

It was. Those teams in 2011, 12 and 13 had some of worst defenses statistically in Cowboys history and set futility marks in NFL history rivaling some of the worst teams.

If not for Romo and his theatrics on offense those were no more than 4 or 5 win teams. 2013 team was a little better and if Romo hadn’t been out in finale probably could have finally broke thru.

And the fact they were even contending in final week for division while rebuilding was quite an achievement especially with some of the off field distractions we had with the death of players, etc .

2014 was the culmination of those rebuilding years and I’d argue our best team in Garrett era. That was a championship caliber offense with a QB playing at his peak level. Defense could have been better and probably cost us. That divisional playoff heartbreaking loss we never overcame.

The 2015 offseason ripped apart the Triplets as we let the leagues leading rusher walk, dispute with Dez contract which I’d argue was mishandled and Romo had a season ending injury. We never fielded that 2014 core offensive juggernaut again.

Then in 2016 we used the 4th overall pick in the draft to compensate for the poor decision of letting our leading rusher go without a suitable replacement, Romo was injured in preseason and we started a Rookie QB who set the league on fire matching the Cowboys best regular season record only to lose in divisional round again in another heartbreaker.

IMO that would end up being the legacy of Garrett . A HC who steered the Cowboys through some difficult times often overcoming off field distractions, key injuries and of course the ever present poor Mgmt decisions , meddling and distractions from our ownership. In the end the heart breaking losses and lack of success in those divisional rounds of the playoffs which he never overcame were too much for a fan base to sustain without eventually more success with the constant pressure of an owner who over hyped the talent and expectations to sell his product.

I believe in years to come history will be more favorable on Jason’s tenure in this Puppet era under Jerry pending the results upcoming. Much like history is more favorable on Romo now we haven’t had any more success since.

    I agree in year one.

But wouldn’t you agree Jerry made this hire of a veteran SB winning HC because he believes this team is talented enough to make a run now. And most critics, media and fans who aligned themselves with Jerry’s touting rhetoric of this roster felt it was coaching that held it back.

Well, that’s the pressure that comes with this hiring. The Bar has been raised. The expectations are higher.

No more excuses with this type of coaching staff. Super Bowl or Bust sooner rather than later.

Not sure why you’re fixated on this but for every team it’s Super Bowl now.

That's silly. What, we're going to start to look like the Giants in the coaching department? I don't think so. There will be no coaching carousel in Dallas.

The whole 'Super Bowl or Bust' mentality is, imo, absurd. It is incredibly difficult to get to the Super Bowl.

Let me ask you: If we had gone out and somehow managed to hire Sean Payton, would you have been excited? I would have. They're watching the rest of the playoffs from home (obv), not to mention that he's been to exactly one SB with a HoF QB and been to only two other NFCC games, one being in 2006. You could argue - and you'd be right - that the Saints were robbed last year, but that's a part of the point re: how hard it is to get to the SB. Payton's missed the playoffs entirely in 5 of his 14 seasons with the Saints and was bounced in the WC round 2 other times, so in 50% of his seasons as coach of the Saints, he couldn't get them past the WC round, and that was with some great talent on the roster. Still, I don't think anyone will deny that he's a great coach.

McCarthy seems like an upgrade from Garrett, but for the record, McCarthy's last 3 seasons as HC in GB was 21-22-1, with his last two seasons being 11-16-1. Garrett was 32-16 from 2016-2018, which sounds(and was) a LOT better than 21-22-1.

I had no problem with Garrett's firing and don't really have a problem with the McCarthy hire. I think we'll win the NFCE next year (as we should have done this year) and then we'll see.

    Go Cowboys!!

Why shouldn’t the expectations be at least the same as they were for Garrett if not higher since he’s a proven SB caliber HC?

Because of the Hype that was placed on this highly touted roster by our ownership, fans, critics and media with a mandate and expectations from last year we should be making a deeper run in the playoffs for a championship.

it’s the core cause of a coaching change. Why shouldn’t the same pressure be placed ?

Instead of everyone just being relieved we’ve ridden ourselves of the reason we were under achieving with this talented roster.

This hire was to make a deeper run now. Not 3-5 years.

It appears a very reasonable quest on my part.

So, your expectations for Mike with this roster are less than they were with Garrett?

Mike gets a pass on Mediocrity for 10 years?

I would imagine if there is a three-game losing streak that Mike McCarthy could expect to see his stuff on the lawn when he gets back to Jerry's house.

Are fans going to be more satisfied if we have less or the same disappointments with a SB caliber HC?

Mediocrity will be ok with a greater HC I guess?? Lol

He wasn't responsible for the mediocrity for 10 years...Garrett was. He has to have time to fix this crap.

Because I believe Big Mike will be successful, he gets the balance of his current 5 yr contract and then an extension. SB appearances are coming under his tenure.

You predicted it would be another puppet. You were wrong. Admit it and lets move on.

I told you he would hire a legitimate coach. I was right. Acknowledge and move on.

McCarthy won't need 10 years. I figured the first year will be figuring everything out. Not expecting a lot. Player turn outs will happen. He will get his guys, year 2 will be promising , year three, playoffs.

    Best scenario? Year 4.
