The Cowboys are looking good so far. The injury bug has not played much of a factor, so far. Hypothetically speaking, suppose Julius suffers a serious injury and goes on I.R. How likely do you think it would be that Thompson, in that event, would become the #1 back, with A-Train/Barber remaining insurance? Thompson has that break away speed that is very rare and has the potential to take it to the house on every play.

In this same thread, I am NOT bashing J. Jones, but he seems to be "dancing" a lot this year, instead of just hitting the hole. I doubt he becomes the elite back we all want him to be unless he breaks himself of that habit.

One final thought. As good as Julius Jones can be, at this stage of his career, he isn't even in the same ballpark as L. Tomlinson. That guy is a man among boys. He has zero wasted motion.

i love how some of you guys are never satisfied. you are ready to quit on julius through 3 games when he is on pace for 17 tds and 1400 yards, by the way he played two of the top run defenses and barely touched the ball in the second half with my opportunity against the niners. So ya julius sucks hell never be elite, well see where he is at the end of the season, i have a feeling he might be in hawaii with tiki and westbrook. I dont think cadillac can keep up what hes doing all season, he got 37 carries yesterday, youll have to break some of those for long runs, espeically against the packer d. Also, LT is of course way better than jj, hes a freak of nature, hes the only one that i can forsee breaking emmiits records.

suppose a huge spaceship comes through the hole at Texas stadium and wipes out the whole team. Do you people sit around and just think this crap up? The team will cross that bridge when and if it happens. JJ is a hell of a back and is running fine. Do you remember what we've had here with EG and Hambone? These posts from misery hounds really pick my nerves.

I agree - come on folks - This is a message board but you really need to think about what you are throwing out for discussion.

I would rather think about JJ staying healthy all year long.......

First off, I am very optimistic about the Cowboys, and do not see anything about my post that is pessimistic.

Second, is it unrealistic to think that Julius Jones will not get hurt? I realize some of you may have had your head in a bucket, or in the sand, as the case may be, but Julius Jones sat out a good portion of last year due to injury. I guess I'll let you tell me exactly how it is you "KNOW" he will not be injured this year.

Julius is a good back. How good he is is yet to be determined. He could be good, very good, or potentially great, but the book has yet to be written on that just yet. Hopefully he will be great.

It is my opinion that Julius has not been running with the authority he had last year. In order to be "great" you need to be able to perform week in and week out, not just against the school of the blind. It is possible that defenses have keyed in on him and dared us to beat them with the pass. But it has been three games, so far, and judging by his performances so far he has been serviceable, but nothing better than an average NFL starting running back. I am hoping he will be better than average, otherwise my 13-3 prediction for us will not be attainable.

There is a thing called superstition, and making what if threads about injuries falls under that realm.

It is better to not speak of such things, because if Jones does get hurt, many will view it as your fault, because this thread jinxed him.

Don't tempt fate, say you are sorry and delete the thread.

I think at first A-train would be the sure starter because of experience, but he just isnt hte kind of back who can carry a teams offense, like JJ can. I think TT would steal the job because his potential is so much higher. however if it was a playoff race a-train would probably get the nod.

While your post asks a legitemate question, which I'm sure BP has asked himself already, its not something most of us want to talk about after a dramatic win. A win in which jones scored 2 touchdowns, and rushed for 85 against a defense stacking 8 men in the box. Allowing us to pass as well as we did. Let him play a whole season before claiming he is an "average" back that "dances" too much. And please lets be positive about our current offensive situation, and not freakin disect every little thing. CAN I ENJOY THIS WIN PLEASE?

Yes you may enjoy this win, as I am as well. I am laughing out loud right now at your post, but not in a negative way. I am probably as optimistic a fan as there is, but I guess my post seems to be raining on everyone's parade. LOL. It is not intended to do so. I realize some people are superstitious, but I am not one of them.

I really think Julius is a good back. I really do. I just want for him to be a great back. The reason I was asking this is I think if Julius got hurt this year, I think Thompson would not miss a beat, production-wise, although he might be a little bit less adept at pass blocking/blitz pickup at this point. I could also see this like the Bledsoe/Brady deal in New England. If Julius gets injured this year to any real extent, he might not get a chance to start here again if Thompson replaces him. This would not be true if A train was his replacement.

My 13-3 prediction shows how optimistic I am. This board is REALLY funny. If you predict your team will do well (like I have done) you are considered to be a HOMER. If you ask a realistic question it is akin to Voo-Doo witch doctoring. LMAO. You would have thought I had a Julius Jones doll poking it with pins. LMAO. Obviously, not all of this reply is directed to this poster, so please do not take offense.

What happens if Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, LT, Chad Johnson or some other superstar goes down on another team? Every team has players that they cant afford to lose. What if Emmitt had held out longer in 93 or got hurt in 95? Come on you cant deal in what ifs you have to line up and play with the guys available.
