T.O. PLANS TO WAIT

With receiver Terrell Owens finally on the open market, don't expect him to take the best offer that he can line up in the short term. Instead, word is that he'll wait as long as it takes to get the contract that he thinks he deserves.

The key, we believe (and we hear), is that Owens will stay put until there's an offer that makes him happy and motivated and ready to give everything he has on the field. Even if he has to wait until September, Owens won't sign until he gets the right offer.

So what will it take? It's anyone's guess, but consider the deals that recently have been signed at the receiver position. Reggie Wayne walked off with $12.5 million to sign. Antwaan Randle El reeled in $11.5 million in bonuses. David Givens got $8 million.

Happiness is a subjective term, to be sure. But we can't imagine T.O. being happy, in light of these other deals, with anything less than $15 million in guarantees.

translation.....jerry will give him a LOT of guaranteed money over a long period of time, thus rendering us to status as NFL laughingstocks.

Where did this info come from?

If this is accurate, it sure is looking like the negotiating power is in Owen's hands.

I don't think the two are related issues. Key wanted more $$. Jerry offered him the opportunity to see if a better situation was out there for him. He may very well be back. Since Key doesn't have an agent anymore, he's got no one out there sniffing around and getting a sense of the market.

Really what Jerry and Bill did here was tremendously respectful of Key. Key knows that -- if there isn't a great deal out there he's coming back.

This has nothing to do with TO. Nothing at all. Pure coincidence.

Thanks Dayton.

Well, it looks like Owens isn't exactly contrite.

And it looks like this business of a short term deal with incentives isn't accurate either.

And it looks like we have one experienced WR right now..and a fragile one at that.

Geezlouise...

The only upside is, maybe Owens won't be a Cowboy after all.

Say what you want I will read their rumors and believe them more than John Clayton or Mort anyday. When profootball talk has a rumor it comes true more than any clown from ESPN

That would be the silver lining to this TO drama..

PFT nails stories on a regular basis. And they leave their archives up so you can track how often they were right.

they break stories all the time.

also, they are often wrong. but no more than Clayton and others are.

Actually Mort DID NOT say that. I have seen that clip on ESPN news a zillion times now. John Clayton was the one that said that. Mort said the Cowboys are the only team willing to pay TO big money.
The Cowboys will not play that game with him. I believe they will move on if a deal doesn't happen relatively quickly.

Wasn't profootballtalk or whatever the ones who said VY made a 6, when he actually scored higher? Really reliable.

No way this drags on for weeks as clayton and his report claims

TO will be a cowboy soon or it wont happen at all

I dont believe for a second that Dallas didnt know the score on TO before Key was cut

A report on another Dallas insider board claims Key said he knew he would be cut almost right after the TO news came out. Connect the dots

and believe what you want but PFT is a total joke...hell they botched the whole Vince young story and then tried to backtack on it. it was hilarious

They are right more than Espn. How many f-in QB have we been linked too by Clayton the last 3 years? How many did we bring in.

Clayton says TO will move within the next 24 hours he believes.

They werent the only media outlet that botched the Young wonderlic score. If any media outlets were reporting off they report then they are idiots since you guys claim they are so horrible.

Dont get me wrong they dont get every story they post right but in the last year they have had more stories right than Mort and Clayton combined and they work for the leader in sports
